| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Jul 3, 2007 Pours black with a mild head, a lot of carbonation, almost looks like a Coke. Toasted malts evident on the nose.Toffee and caramel notes are also present in the aroma. Delicious raosted malts invade the palate, with toasted chocolate, smokey toffee and burnt mocha/almond. In addition to the roasted malts there is a pleasing hoppy balance which provides a drying symmetry to a rounded, delicious robust flavor...makes me feel like I should brush my teeth between sips. One of my favorites! gmcase (113), Indiana, USA

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jun 21, 2007 Dark roasted chocolate coffee - strong sharp flavours of over-ripe plums and grapes, especially as it warms. Opaque. Alcohol or cane sugar in the aroma, but not overpowering - just adds a warmth. Very nice carbonation - lively, but not distracting. Thick, silky, dark, and heavy - delicious. | 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jun 20, 2007 Pours a deep brown around the sides, black in the middle, nice lasting tan head. Aroma is nutty (diacetyl) with dark fruits and chocolate. The body is med. with too much CO2. The flavors are semi-sweetish, buttery, with hints of grassy hops. Finish is smooth with a drying bitterness. The diacetyl really works well in this beer.
It paired nicely with my Cuban pork sandwich.
