Color is a rich deep brown, almost black - which I like in a porter. Aroma is intriguing - with one sniff I get hints of chocolate, with the next, roast coffee. Flavor is not as rich as I expected, but it is typical of a good porter with strong hoppy overtones, smoky undertones, and a soupcon of coffee. This is a beer to be sipped and savored, not chugged.

This knocked me on my ass, the finishing touch to a night of bold drinking and partying. IT was ok. It had good falvors, sweet taste, but also pretty hoppy.

Extra dark brown color with beige foam. No carbonation seen in the glass. Berry aroma with plums, figs and strong banana. Oily yet light palate - doesn’t overload you, very good. A plethora of flavours, mostly sweet and fruity, definitely banana. Then just enough hops to almost nuetralize the finish. If there is a refreshing porter you can drink plenty of - this is the one.

Pretty good. Nothing too much going on. Not very rich or thick. Its an average porter. Dark in color, tan diminishing head, tastes mildly like coffee. It was an eh.

Creamy coffee and chocolate. Very dark brown with red hues. Medium palate. Weak coffee and plenty of roasted malt.

Espresso roast, booze-sodden fruitcake and a smear of Marmite in the nose. One of the inkiest pitch pours I’ve ever lifted to the light. The roast is Guinness-ish in its dryness, with some lovely balancing malt sweetness to go with it. Sam’s customary silky palate. Not as good as the Oatmeal, but still a treat.

Good beer, but could be a lot better. The smell is decent, but it doesn’t grab my nose. I was looking for a real bitter smell that would remind me of some black coffee, only cold. The pour was nice, and the color is outstanding. Nice and black, and this beer doesn’t get wrapped up in a bunch of head. The flavor just doesn’t finish as I believe it should. It has a great taste while drinking, but that after taste is missing. In fact, not all of the after taste is missing, just that special kick. I would drink this again. I am very pleased with this beer. Coffee notes are subtle, too subtle!
