355 ml. bottle, pours, a black colour with a big head and there’s always a ring and lace. Smell of chocolate, coffee, caramel, liquorice and some burnt wood. Creamy palate, so not full, taste is the same as smell, burnt notes more accentuated, but all is there: chocolate, coffee, caramel, and liquorice. Bitterswwet finish.

Dermi (722) - Helsinki, FINLAND - MAY 4, 2015
355 ml, bottled. Pours very dark red, almost black, with a decent tanned head. Aroma: Roasted malt, caramel, banana, hints of raw cacao. Taste: Medium+ sweet, banana flavours, citric fruits. Balanced bitterness, yet feels nicely sweet. Some tangyness and some saltiness. Tobacco flavours in the end. Palate: Medium-light body, very dry feel. Some weird but interesting bitterness in the end. Not a spectacular brew and not sure if I will ever buy it again, but quite interesting brew, I like it. Glad I tried.

BierMeHoos (273) - Maryland, USA - APR 30, 2015
12 oz bottle. Extremely dark brown, almost black. Aroma has hints of chocolate, some light coffee, dark fruits and sweet malt. Taste is with flavors of raisins, dates, figs and a touch of coffee in the finish. Palate is weak. Overall, not sure why this rates so high, I probably wouldn't buy it again.

Jabah (166) - Winter Park, Florida, USA - APR 28, 2015
This is pretty hoppy and bitter for a porter. After trying some other Samuel Smiths, especially loving the Oatmeal Stouts and loving porters in general, I expected this to be better than it was. Still a very good overall beer, just a tad bitter or off-balanced for my ideal preference. I would never turn this down if anybody offered or would even consider it in a trade. Just don’t know if I would go out of my way to spend this kind of money when so many other things out there now.

Clear dark brown/black, light brown thin frothy head. Dry and slightly roasted aroma, bit chocolate. Medium body, dry, low bitterness, smooth, long finish with nice roasted malt. Minimalist but nice, ok flavors.

Lele (216) - Padova, ITALY - APR 19, 2015
ASPETTO: marrone scurissimo, quasi impenetrabile. Schiuma beige, abbondante e persistente. AROMA: soprattutto tostato. Quando si scalda emerge un tenue marzapane. Aroma comunque poco pronunciato. GUSTO: soprattutto tostato, cacao e liquirizia, ma tutto poco pronunciato. Corpo leggero, carbonizzazione media.

0,335 from Alko Bulevardi. Sameahko tummanruskea. Tuoksussa paahteista mallasta, tummaa suklaata, humalaa ja ruislimppua. Maussa raikkaasti paahteisen maltaan ja humalan sekoitusta, hiukan kahvia.
