355 ml. bottle, pours, a black colour with a big head and there’s always a ring and lace. Smell of chocolate, coffee, caramel, liquorice and some burnt wood. Creamy palate, so not full, taste is the same as smell, burnt notes more accentuated, but all is there: chocolate, coffee, caramel, and liquorice. Bitterswwet finish.

Bottle. Very dark brown, average and fully lasting light brown head. Moderate, malty and sweetish aroma, some caramel and faint roasted malt with light dark fruits and faint hoppyness. Body is medium, malty and sweetish flavor, some caramel and faint roasted malt, faint dark fruits. Finish is average, malty and lightly sweetish - sweetish, light caramel and roasted malt, light dark fruits and hoppyness. Sweetish porter with notes of dark fruits. Way too sweet for me.

Poured from a 20 oz. bottle. Very dark with a durable head. Strong roasted coffee flavor. My only complaint is the fuzzy aftertaste.

Mörkt brun öl med ett ljusbrunt skum. Doft av choklad och lättare rostade toner. I smaken tillkommer mörkt socker och en anings söt lakrits. Helt ok men något för söt för min del.

35,5 cl bottle @ home, BBE 05/2016
Aroma is very English with licorice and toffee. Also mild coffee notes. Flavour has ash, licorice, English hops and cold coffee. A bit too much CO2 here. A bit disappointing – and too English for me.

355ml bottle from Alko. Pours black colored with a thick light brown head. Milk chocolate, toasted malt, licorice and oatmeal notes in aroma. Flavor has roasted malt, licorice, chocolate notes and hints of brown sugar. Finish is long with licorice lingering. I like the licorice notes here. Quite smooth mouthfeel. OK body for this ABV. Not bad.

550 ml bottle bought at Gorgeous Wine & Cigar in Yuen Long.

Looks: Deep blackish brown colour; Two finger head with crumpety beige foam which lasted for 3 minutes. Beautiful sticky lacing with active small carbonation.

Aroma: Fragrant roasted dark malt, with roasted barley, vanilla, strong cocoa, cream, chocolate syrup, caramel, sugar, yeast and faint lemon.

Taste: Mid to light sweet dark Ale malt, with strong roasted nuts, metallic, strong caramel, cream, chocolate, moderate black coffee, molasses, light dark bread, strong yeast, lime, bitter hops and grass.

Body: Close to light body. Slick and creamy palate.

Mouth Feel: Very malty and quite well-bodied, not as watery as the Nut Brown Ale. Strong and yummy roasted nuts. Good caramel backbone with nice creaminess, good light touch of black coffee and chocolate not as overwhelming as most Stouts. Fairly bready and yeasty with limey hops to round. Nice!

Hoppiness: Faint lemon in nose, Lime and grass in taste. Bitterness is moderate for a lasting, fairly astringent strong malty finish.

After taste: Fairly dry. Creamy malty and fairly bitter to mouth.

Comments: This one has very solid roasted maltyness and creaminess in looks, taste and feel. All bonuses to a standard Porter style and this is more than just drinkable. Very enjoyable indeed!

0.355 l bottle from Alko. Dark brown colour with tan head. Aroma has chocolate and hops. Taste has roasted malts and hops. This has lots of hops. Well, it resembles some very dark chocolate with more than 80% of Cocoa. Don’t cool it too much to get all the taste.

Vesijättömaata. Salmiakkisuklaata. Liian laiha maku vaikka koostumus oli paksu. Siinä ja siinä hyvä.

Black body, light brown head. Aroma has some coffee, roasted malts, choco and lots of molasses. Flavour turns bit light and sweet. Nice amount of flavours and very smooth but leaves watery and bit too fizzy feeling.
