A: Pretty light on the aroma... a bit of malt. A: Looks great. Pours a little thin but the head is a great cream color. Otherwise dark black. T: Taste is alright. Roasty, malty. Nothing special but pretty solid. A bit of acidity in the finish. Very earthy as well. Hint of vanilla... agressive bitterness on the finish. P: Sits pretty agressive. Medium/light body. Overall a nice porter but not my favorite. There are some good notes of roastiness and malt is well balanced but overall the beer is a little light... The finish has a bit too much bitterness and a touch of acidity. I’m not really impressed by this beer and there are other porters I would rather reach for.

I'm more a stout than porter drinker, but This is one of my favorites from the wonderful selection from Samuel Smith's wonderful brewery. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Dark brown with a thick head, some lacing, and a chocolate, fruity nose. Lightly-carbonated with a mild mouthfeel and a somewhat bitter, black coffee, cola, dark chocolate, dark fruit finish.

Noire, on ne voit rien à travers. Mousse marron claire.

550 ml bottle. Translucent dark brown colour. Wonderful tan soufflé-like head. Rich bready, treacle and nutty malt aroma. Notes of Worcestershire and herbal hops. Smooth and roasty with a earthy, sweet malt component. Brown sugar and dried fruit come through as well. This is sublime and very drinkable. A world class porter and a must have.

12 oz. bottle from Total Wine, Chesapeake, VA. Dark brown, cola-like pour with a frothy khaki head. Aroma of rich roasted malts with notable chocolate and less obvious floral hops. Great taste of coffee and chocolate. Perfectly balanced. A world class porter.

Bottle from Cornelius. Dark brown body with a tan head. Nice lacing. Aroma of treacle, toffee, salted caramel and red wine. Flavour of red grape, brown sugar, cranberries and dark chocolate. Thin body with a spritzy texture. Overly fizzy. Great aroma and flavour for 5.0% ABV, pity about the mouthfeel.

Bottle @ home, from Saveur-Biere.com - Color: opaque black beer with no carbonation and medium brown head. Smell: malt domination, black bread, coffee notes, and licorice. Taste: nice black bread and malty domination. Roasted taste and coffee. Good balance of caramel. Really nice. Aftertaste: malt and caramel. Really nice porter, great and amazing job.
