Tastes perhaps a little too much like black coffee for my preference, though. Interesting that <a href=’http://www.ratebeer.com/ViewUser.asp?UserID= says it is reminiscent of <a href=’http://www.ratebeer.com/ShowBeer.asp?BeerID= Celebrator -- I had the same thought. krisfleet (130), Sharon, Pennsylvania, USA

This one isn’t as good as the oatmel stout, but it is definately worth trying. It is mildly sweet for a porter, and has a refreshing aftertaste. Very dark appealing appearence, and a good oder. This is definitely the best porter I’ve had to date. That is probably because this is the least sweet porter I’ve had - of course, that is what keeps it from being truly great. Many an Aussie has gone over there to teach them a few things about the fine art of leather v willow only to be shown as the superior beings. So, we can smack a ball around. Who does the better porter? No brainer. Skill, experience and ingredients all add up to the presentation of a superlative beer. Love the dark and chewy stuff. | 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 16/20 | Mar 1, 2008 Poured a dark ruby brown, almost pitch black, with a thick tan head with unusually large bubbles. Mostly chocolate and coffee aromas, but I could also sense some nuttiness. Chocolate flavors with nuttiness that was more pronounced than in the smell. Additional flavors of roasted malts, then some dark fruits. A wonderfully complex beer. Rich, creamy, smooth - all in all, a very pleasant beer.
