thenick (530), North Bellmore, New York, USA Mar 7, 2008 Bottle. Pours a deep reddish-brown with a fluffy brown head. Aroma is roasted malt with oat, chocolate, and slight slight hop characteristics. Taste is nuts and roasted malt up front, dissolving into a beautiful chocolate/caramel flavor with a smooth and dry finish. Hops are barely detectable but seem to add to the overall experience of the beer. Wonderful.
j_b (727), Rochester, New York, USA Aug 6, 2008 Very nice dark appearance with a head that starts full and recedes to reveal nice lacing patterns. Rich mocha coffee aroma, toasted malt also. The palate is nutty and full, well balanced between sweet and bitter. Very nice. DarkBeer (47), Ohio, USA Aug 6, 2008 Dark, almost black. Tan head lasts a while. Serve at cellar temperature, Dark chocolate in the taste, feels great in the mouth. Some nuttiness. Aftertaste lingers a bit. Excellent beer. hopeye101 (11), Cedar Park, Texas, USA Aug 3, 2008 Poured from a 550ml bottle into a Youngs Beer glass.
Good Rocky Light brown head. About 1 inch high.
Black, almost opaque appearance.
Aroma: Brit Hops, raisin, chocolate, a little vanilla
Taste: raisins, roasted malt, chocolate, a slight hop bitterness.
Drinkability: one of the few porters/stouts I crave when it’s in the high 90’s in Texas.
Mouthfeel, silky very nice for a low abv porter
An incredible brew. One of the best porters I’ve had.
