tylerss20 (89), New Hampshire, USA May 5, 2008 As a brown english porter, this one is a solid option. Pours dark, with tan head. Very cloudy, almost dirty. Tastes dirty too, but in a good way. Honestly, this kind of porter is not my preference. Very earthy, medium bitterness, meal-in-a-bottle sort of beer. I lean towards the baltics and American styles like Stone and Anchor. But if you like that dark, medium-heavy body, this is a good choice.
drjay44 (104), USA Aug 19, 2008 550 ml. bottle, pours a mocha colored head, no lacing, nice blackish brown color, nose with bits of coffee, chocolate, cocoa, similar flavors, not much hop, well balanced. A slab of beef would go nicely. flatmatt (69), Northville, Michigan, USA Aug 19, 2008 12 oz bottle. Pours black with a medium fizzy head that quickly dissipates to a ring. Aromas of sweet dark fruits, roasted coffee, a little chocolate, and some definite alcohol. Flavors of roasty coffee and chocolate, with just a touch of brown sugar and dark fruits. Fairly nice porter, maybe just a touch weak as far as palate goes. Blom (605), Odense, Denmark Aug 18, 2008 Black with a good brown head. Aroma of coffee, chocolate, liqueur. Restrained flavour of roasted malts, chocolate and liquorice.
BeerEssential (90), Massachusetts, USA Aug 17, 2008 Pours an almost opaque black with a tan head. Mouthfeel is light, with a very roasted flavour, but no bitter aftertaste, which makes it easygoing with many meals. Very nice. The Etruscan (260), Tuscany, Italy Aug 17, 2008 Weak foamy light brown colour. Black colour. Aroma is malty with licorice and a hint of raisins notes. Flavor is malty too with coffee tones, ending in a moderately roasty finish. Light bodied.
