(2007 Bottle) Appearance: Clear, light brown body with a small white head that recedes fairly quickly. Smell: Toasted malt aroma with a bit of caramel and mild notes of berries and spicy hops. Taste: Biscuity, toasted maltiness with a subdued caramel sweetness and a hint of berry fruitiness. Dries out into a light spicy bitterness. Finishes same. Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium carbonation. Drinkability: It’s fine, however wholly unremarkable it may be.

Orange copper in appearance with a small, off-white head. Aroma of carmel malt with floral and citrus hops. Flavour is rather dry, not much malt sweetness and a good amount of alcohol flavour, and the hops become more prominent causing the taste to be a bit bitter. The flavour is quite a departure from what I expected from the aroma. The finish is bitter but short. It has a good mouthfeel with a generous amount of carbonation with a medium body. I’ve liked every Samuel Smith brew I’ve tried up until now; I do have to say that I’m a little let down by this one. It’s not bad but there are many other Samuel Smith brews I prefer to this one.

Pours clear copper with a thin head. Aromas of caramel and molasses. Flavor is dry with a bitter finish. Body is smooth yet effervescent. Nothing great.

A truly pedestrian brew. Transparent light copper, decent vanilla head, no lacing. I guess as far as the Brits go - being able to detect some hop bitterness and a staggering increase from 4 to 6% ethanol, merits the phase "welcome winter" but not much memorable going on here. I have liked the stouts from this source.

Clear orange with a solid white head. Musty aroma of caramel malt and floral hops. More toffee, caramel, and a fuggel-like bitterness. Didn’t taste the seaweed, thank God. Average.

Bottled. Rubyish amber colour, mediumsized white head. Aroma is caramel malts and some sweeter hops. Flavour is metallic, caramelly and grassy/earthy hoppy. Nice but quite watery.

Pours a clear orange color into the dimpled mug with an inch of white, fluffy head. The scent was fairly mild with some floral notes, hops, malt and some citrus fruit. The taste was a decent mix of faint citrusy hops and toffee. Not very complex at all, rather thin and unexciting. I was let down by this beer.

Aroma is a mild malt scent. Color is a deep clear golden brown with light carbonation and a thin head. Taste is malty, bitter and roasted. Starting with a medium body it goes down with a smooth feel and a bitter bite at the end. Finish comes in bitter with a mild malt flavor then leaves a slight sweet roasted flavor in the after taste. Its an interestingly complex brew and is better then I remember.
