The aroma is the best part of this beer, and is one of my favorites all around. Cookie malts, some dough and some brown sugar is what I could come up with, and the sum is greater than its parts. Slightly acidic and metallic finish take away from the pleasantness, but its a great one to stick your nose in.

copper pour with foamy tan head. smells of spice, hops and vanilla. taste of spice as well with a hint of caramel and pine, think and oily mouthfeel, bitter on the backend. this is a decent beer, each taste is a bit better than the last, i can image having this on a cold winters day... too bad its summer :o(

Bottle. Heavy malt aromas of nuts and caramel and light smells of herbs and dough with date and brown sugar in the background. Head is a rocky off white with fair lacing and is fully diminishing. Color is a clear orange/brown. Flavor is lightly acidic to start and finishes lightly sweet and acidic. Palate is light to medium, watery with fizzy carbonation. The flavor is a little weak in this beer, but the aromas make up for it somewhat.

2007 bottle, have had all years back to 1997, like how they change the picture and supposedly they taste different, used to think this was then best, clear saffron pour, not much head, a little spicey and lightly carbonated, good standby if nothing else.

06/07 bottle. Not much to this one for the malt sake, there is a hint of caramel malts. There is a flowery hop taste and aroma that lingers in the back of your moujth for a while.

Pours with a two-finger very light tan head that fades slowly leaving some lace. Nice clear amber color. Medium bodied. Malty nose. Light-medium carbonation. Flavor is malty, caramel, slight dryness at finish. No hint of seaweed. $2.50 for a 12oz clear bottle from Capitol Convenience Concord, NH.

golden brown/auburn with thick yellow-white head. Huge pockets in foam. Smells quite sweet; fruity. Possibly pineapple and grape? Really a pleasant and enticing aroma. Flavor is strongly concord grape juice, giving way to a buttery finish. An interesting and smooth ale from Sam Smith.

Excellent caramel and vanilla aroma, couldbe a little stronger but still nice. Clear orange color, no head. Blackberry and hop taste, good balance. Slight sour plum finish. Outstanding!
