Weather forcasted to be dismal.....as was such with this brew. i don;t know what it was, but it looked good, yet there was no taste outside of some carbonated apple juice. Not sure what Sammiez playing at. I was uberly dissapointed in this but it fits this weirdo late cold front that’s moved in recently. Perhaps more of a soviet weather engineering tactic. JamesD (192), Centreville, Virginia, USA Apr 8, 2007 Bottle. Tastes complexly sweet. Has a hint of licorice, or something similar that was hard to put my finger on. I highly recommend it, after all it’s Samuel Smith, they haven’t created a bad beer I’ve ever found. Crafty07 (391), Florence, Kentucky, USA Apr 6, 2007 I’ve sampled several offering from the venerable Samuel Smith brewery and I haven’t come across a bad beer yet.
I had this in the 550ml bottle. The writer didnt’ waste any time with this sad description. I didnt’ realize that carbon dioxide was an ingredient. I certainly couldn’t detect any ’seaweed finings’ but I wouldn’t be surprised if more haughty reviewers had. Still, nice job. MadIndian (987), Levittown, Pennsylvania, USA Apr 6, 2007 Bottled from trenton take out. Thin light brown color small head. Watery appearence with slight malt aroma. Thin and watery in taste which was gypsum , mild malt and slight hop. Not very much to see here. french tickler (642), Aylmer, Quebec, Canada Mar 29, 2007 Drank in an english pint. Clear caramel color poor with a nice frothy beige head. Aromas of caramel, nice sweet aromatic hops, cask and nutty. Nice sweet caramel taste, figs, maple syrup with an earthy finish. Good bitterness, nicely carbonated and a very creamy body. Not as light as you might think yet still very refreshing. geodave (2), Toronto, Ontario, Canada does not count Mar 20, 2007 Bottle - First review
Pours a deep rust red. The head lingers slightly with minor lacing, and the nose is a nutty, aromatic malt. Taste is a slightly-spicy, neutral malt with a bitter hop character coming through at the finish. A lovely beer on a cold Toronto night, but beyond that it’s a tad mundane. robinvboyer (1419), Sturgeon Falls, Ontario, Canada Mar 19, 2007 clear amber color. typical english hop aroma. flavour is bitter with the typical english hopppiness. Some spice comes though, I find it quite similar to the pale ale. over all nice, but not mind blowing.
