RedEft (131), Wichita, Kansas, USA Feb 26, 2007 Poured a fine, orange-amber color with a nice whitish head. Aroma of caramel, malts, and spices. Taste begins malty and finishes with a surprisingly dry, hops bite. Very pleasant brew. Slayer85 (582), Firenze, Italy Feb 26, 2007 550 ml bottle, 06/07 vintage. A clear amber beer with a medium persisitent beige head. The aroma is principally malty with some hops and light nut and caramel. The flavour is sweet, malty. A light alcohol presence and some bitterness ion the end. Not much long aftertaste. medium body. An above the average beer. ford9719 (369), Vilseck, Germany Feb 23, 2007 Bottle. Poured a golden color with a one finger white head. Aroma of spice and roasted malt. Taste is ok it does not have enough bite for me. MarkoR (224), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Feb 21, 2007 Pours a amber colour with a small head. Gentle spicy aroma. Kind of on the light side. strangaj (229), West Chester, Ohio, USA Feb 13, 2007 Pours a clear burnt orange color with a light tan head. Aroma has a distinct pickup of hops but a maltyness is present. Taste starts with smooth malt and finishes with a strong kick of hops, which is not overpowering, but you won’t miss it either. Not bad, but solid and basic. About what I would expect from Sam Smith but I would prefer a bit of spice added to compliment the malt. johnnycanuck (1), Toronto, Ontario, Canada does not count Feb 9, 2007 Cellar Temperature, excellent flavours developing as it warms to room temperature. Nicely balanced between sweet caramel and vanilla maltiness and moderately bitter (but definitely present) hops. Subtle and refined compared to some other winter ales, but flavourful - as an English Ale should be. A nice beer. Maria (6056), Thisted, Denmark Feb 8, 2007 Warm amber with a nice head. The aroma has notes of malt and fruit and the flavour has nice, smooth notes of caramel and fruit. As it gets warmer subtle and nice notes surfaces and makes this beer a true Samuel Smith. Juancho (225), Clearwater Beach, Georgia, USA Feb 7, 2007 Pours copper/amber and clear, as if seriously filtered. For a winter welcom it seems very light and faint.
