sberk13 (5), pittsfield, Massachusetts, USA does not count Jan 20, 2007 had a bottle of the 2006 poured into a pint glass - one of the most comforting tastes in the winter time - warms my insides without the feeling of alcohol. one of my favorites - smooth, malty, a touch of spice. how does this only have a 64 as a rating? GriffinAvenue (395), Winchester, Massachusetts, USA Jan 20, 2007 750 ml bottle. Copper-orange color. 1" thick foam that slowly evaporates. Lightly hoppy, spicy, with hints of cinnamon. Distinctive brown sugar flavour on the end of the throat. Dry finish. Very enjoyable - had to check the funky label a few times to confirm it was a Sam Smith’s. JAF737300 (791), Tampa, Florida, USA Jan 20, 2007 Another nice winter sty;le beer with realy interesting notes of spices and fruit. I am a big fan! morrdt (608), Jacksonville, Florida, USA Jan 18, 2007 12 oz bottle from Total Wine. Pours a copper like color with very little head. Aroma is a bit malty with a light fruit notes. Smooth drinking, but rather boring. WSSmiles (124), Columbus, Ohio, USA Jan 18, 2007 2006-07 Poured from a bottle, vefry malty nose with a touch of a fruity smell. It poured rddish golden body with a vanilla head, really what an ale should look like. Don’t know whay I like Sam Smith so much its probably because they do not dissappoint. JohnnyJ (1283), Carlsbad, California, USA Jan 17, 2007 This english ale has nice flavor. Malty, roasty and some hops and fruit notes. The metallic flavor is not nearly as bad as other english strongs that I’ve had. Appearance is slightly hazy orange, with a roasted malt, light fruit, and hop aroma. Canuckistani (41), Dundas, Ontario, Canada Jan 17, 2007 Easy drinking, sweet, hoppy aroma. Taste is a metallic, hoppy combination that’s not altogether pleasing. Metallic overtones due to artificial carbonation, I imagine. If it was allowed to ferment naturally this would be a far superior ale. As it is it’s a nice winter compliment to a cheap summer thirst-quencher, but nothing more, really. Very poor aftertaste again due to artificial carbonation. Hoppy, though, redeeming some of the poorer characteristics. Juelze (889), Green Bay, Wisconsin, USA Jan 15, 2007 Pours a clear copper color with small whitish head. Aroma is of caramel, toffee and light fruit notes. taste is of sweet caramel malt, toffee, light hops and a weird metallic flavor that gives off some light fruit notes. Easy drinking but not that tasty.
