kimcgolf (824), Dacula, Georgia, USA Oct 27, 2006 Pours to a light copper color with thin off-white head and moderate lacing. Aroma is not real strong, but has hints of mal and bread. Relatively thin body, with an okay taste of maltwith hints of nuts. Initial palate is the same metallic finish I seem to get with all Samuel Smith beers, but this improves as the beer warms. Not great, but not bad for Samuel Smiths. doubleipa (224), Georgia, USA Oct 23, 2006 Nice one inch frothy,off-white head. Quickly became a half inch head. MOderately malty aroma with some light bread. Nothing in the way of a hoppy aroma. Light yeast. Not much in th eway of spiceness that I had expected from this style. Noce on the tongue, though. Nothing really special about this beer. It seemed like just a little fuller English ale, really. PilsnerPeter (2585), Flushing, New York, USA Oct 22, 2006 Pours a bronze with a tan head. The aroma is predominantly malty, a touch of nuttyness. Chewy malt flavor, a hint of alcohol warmth, nutty. Creamy aspect with a late, light grainy bitterness. Not one of Sam Smiths better ones. tomthompson89 (1459), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Oct 22, 2006 least favourite of the bunch amber colour, some malt some hops not that interesting is all i can say TrevorFloyd (309), Connecticut, USA Oct 22, 2006 Not what I expected, but just what I hoped for. Pours a semi-dark amber color. The aroma from my glass was pretty skunky, but that’s probably because of the clear glass and the fact that it was sitting on shelf in full light for about a year. Flavor was simple - sweet malty tones without being cloying, a little bit of hop for liveliness - but enjoyable. Tastes great on a bitter autumn day. LyndaNova (492), Manchester, New Hampshire, USA Oct 21, 2006 Cold 12oz bottle: Pours a clear dark reddish amber color with a thin layer of off-white bubbles that mostly dissolve. Aroma and taste are of sweet malt, caramel, and cinnamon with light sour and bitter notes. Well carbonated. Ending is malt & caramel. jblendy (518), Midland Park, New Jersey, USA Oct 19, 2006 Pours amber/brown with a small tan head. Aroma is sweet, malty, and a bit of nut. Flavor is lightly sweet, hints of barley, slightly nutty, and a little toffee. Palate is full, slightly nutty, bitter, and a bit oily. Not a great brew, but it’s well balanced and easy to drink. Worth trying at least once. GreatLibations (1440), Last Supper, Arizona, USA Oct 13, 2006 Comes in a dark brown bottle this year. Pours a beautuful fired up orangish copper w/ medium semi creamy effers. Aroma is malty w/ slight soured hay. Medium nectar w/ ample residual effers. Flavors are bright and malty upfront w/ wet hay, caramel, that old rustic flavor. Nice bittering on the finish. Flavor really hangs in there on the finish.
