Bottle. Funny this is is considered a strong ale, when it would just be a pale ale on this side of the pond. Poured a clear amber with small, but lasting head. Aroma mostly of caramel sweetness. Sharp crystal malt flavor. Nice clean bitterness. Slightly sticky mouthfeel. Not bad.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Golden brown with a frothy Jersey cream head. Nutty, malty, baked bread aroma. Flavor of toasted nuts with a solid hop bitterness. Too bad this is not part of their everyday line up.

2.3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
From the bottle, pours a mostly clear reddish amber with very little head. Smells wintery, a few spices on top of an average pilsner aroma. Taste is lacking. Thin, weak, a pilsner with winter spices. Not a great offering.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
On tap @ Old Chicago mini tour. Better than most of Samuel Smithís offerings. It has a heartiness that will help keep the chill away but is a bit heavy on the malt.
