Pour was a decent medium thick gold with placid bubbles and no head. Taste was mostly stale caramel, lemon and dusty hops. Little to no carbonation. Not a drainpour, but not very enjoyable overall. | 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Oct 3, 2004 The color is a rather unique dark apricot. The head is white, mostly diminishing and leaves some lacing.
The aroma is quite pleasant and very subtle but still very enjoyable. It’s floral and has some caramel.
I was kind of dreading this beer. I don’t know why but it has been in the back of the fridge for months now but suprisingly, it’s pretty tasty. Just plain, smooth malty goodness with fruits, toffee and caramel. This is way way way good. A great one to start the everning with.

Aroma is wet hops but mine was a little skunked. Thank you clear glass bottle. Flavor is carmel malts with a touch of peppery spice. Ok but nothing really great. oldrtybastrd (1846), Morlautern, Germany/Great Falls, Montana, USA

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Nov 14, 2003 Pours amber with a foamy white head that thins out quickly leaving a decent coat of lacing. Malt aroma with some floral accents. Big malt flavor in the beginning, going a bit toward citrus hops at the finish. A tangy mouthfeel is left behind. Nice. Gold with a massive, loose, cream head; rich, fruity, vinous and alcoholic aroma; the taste echoes this, thick, syrupy and oily with lots of stewed fruit and alcohol; a warming finish but rather a brute of a beer. Poured a nice copper color with a creamy off-white head that lasted well. I pulled this bottle from the very back of a lower shelf where it was protected from light, so it's free of skunkiness. Aroma is sweet maltiness, a little spice and mild hops. Flavor is about the same with a peppery finish. Medium body, creamy carbonation. Nice ale!
