This is a much better change from the typical spicy holiday beers. Very warming and enjoyable.

On pouring, there is an intitial skunky aroma. Hmmm... maybe Sammy Smith needs to finally switch to brown bottles. Looking past the skunk, there's really not much going on here. Crisp carbonation. Some sweetness. Wine-like notes in the finish. No head. Looks like apple juice with a slight froth on top.

2002 batch. Great aromas of malt, caramel, and oak. I got a case of this elixer just to age & do a vertical tasting with later on. Pours out a darker shade of pale, with a classic tight, white head. Strong malty backbone, with a subdued hops finish to it. Highly drinkable, watch out for this one, it's a kick ass beer.

Solid amber color with a light amber head. Smooth, taste with slight taste of caramel. Another quality effort from Samuel Smith.

2002-2003: Beautiful cooper color with a fading frothy white head. Sweet carmel malt flavor with a touch of spice and nicely balanced with a mild hop bitterness. A real nice winter ale.

this beer got a little bite - I think it’s due to the high carbonation. Rich color and nice flavor - a little bitter but pretty decent.

Brown bottle. Clear amber to orange color. I got almost no aroma. Medium sweetness, very liitle hops. Pleasant, but seemed a little watery.

Pours dark red, small white head. Taste is sweet malts, a touch of chocolate, roasted malts, butterscotch. Hops are there leaving a floral aftertatse. almost cinnamon like with the spice kick it actaully reminds me of christmas beers with nutmeg, ginger, cinnamon but in a malt form.
