Amber with a small off-white head. Dreadfully fizzy. After the first sip I left it for an hour and found it much better. A little metal in the aroma as well as malt. It didn’t tempt me. The flavour proved much better: sweet caramel with a hint of alcohol and a medium bitter finish. Good winter beer.

Each year has a different picture? I never knew. Haven’t had this in several years, maybe even 5, but I can pretty much guarantee it still and always tastes the same. Sweet, light dark fruits, bready, tangy. I don’t get the appeal of sammy smith’s.

Amber hue. white head that quickly disappears. Aroma of piney hops, malt and applesauce. Moderate fizz and really nice sweet but refreshing mouthfeel. Tastes of roast twigs and grapes with assertive, but not overpowering hops at the end. Very well balanced.

Smells alright, toast and cereal. Pours clear orange with a frothy white head. Tastes a little metallic, very malty. Good mouthfeel, full bodied and filling.

Bouteille 500ml.

Pours an amber color with a fluffy off white head that leaves spotty lacing. Smell of caramel, toffee, nuts and molasses. Tastes of all the same things that are in the smell but can also taste the seaweed. Mouthfeel is heavy and watery with ok carbonation and a dry finish. Overall this was a decent winter warmer but nothing spectacular. It was interesting to use seaweed in a beer.

Dec 2012 - Surprisingly light in colour. Sweet nutty flavours, mild british hops and maltiness - pretty standard. A good example of a British beer, and nice enough, bit a little boring.

Bottle shared at beers of the world. Aroma is slight cinnamon nutmeg and gingerbread. Pours bronze and clear with a fizzy head. Taste is a little bland with notes of the spices and a caramel malt behind it. Very easy to drink but very unremarkable for the style. I like my Christmas beers to pop.
