Aroma consisted of floral spices, dewy hops and malt. A little too much carbonation on the palate. Usual English session ale flavors, but a little bit more of a kick with the hops and bitter alcohol flavors, and some plum-like flavors in the finish. quarterUltra (12), Stillwater, Oklahoma, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Feb 26, 2006 Taste tested the 04-05 batch. When poured, the head bubbled up to nearly 1.5" with a light brown color and was fully lasting. The color was murky, with a medium, but rich amber color. The color could almost be described as a gradient with the clearest being toward the bottom of the glass up to the murkiest layers on the top. While mellow to the nose, one could detect a mild sweetness. This was verified on the tongue with a bitter sweet initial taste and a long lasting finish. The carbonation was soft despite the large head. The bite does increase as the temperature increases. Was poured at 44.4F. Lingering Bitter finish increased as temp warmed to a more proper drinking temp at 50F. thornecb (1822), Marblehead, Massachusetts, USA

This is just simply one of my favorite brews year after year. Its tasty and always makes me look forward to next year. Its somwhat corny but I love how they change the scene in the background of the label each year too. Its amber in color with a decent off white head and good balance of hops, malts, and a somewhat bitter bite. Make sure this is in your rotation year after year. bbbrew (183), Washington DC, USA

Taste is nutty with some spices and hops. Also fruit and maybe some cinnamon. Aftertaste is clean and smooth. Definitely not your typical holiday beer, but good!
