thehoff (522), Kalamazoo, Michigan, USA May 21, 2006 2005-2006. Sort of a tawny rust color, cream colored thin head. Smells a little malty but that’s all I catch, a little musty dryness. It is still a little too cold from the fridge though. I expect some caramel, toffee scents to be coming through here. Seems quite light for a winter ale. Nice flavor here. A little sweet, no real hops flavor here. Dry finish. Very drinkable. Some different aftertaste that I really cant place, almost plastic tasting. I dont know. The more I taste, the less I like it. Too bad its a 500 ml. Smaller would suffice for me
taalhiker (109), Dayton, Ohio, USA Sep 30, 2008 From bottle. Part of April Dayton Beertasting event.
Pours amber with very little head.
Aromas of malt and spice.
Tastes similar to the nose with sweet malt.
Very smooth and easy drinking. lumpsowers (87), Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, USA Sep 29, 2008 This is dated on the label from 2005/2006, bought in 09/08, didn’t realize it was this old. Trying out a new liquor store, bottles were dusty if you get my meaning...I think this guy may have turned. No head, but a pretty amber pour. Kind of flat, somewhat sour and skunky, but with notes of raisins and nuts, with a sickly sweet phlegmy aftertaste. I think this may have turned, barely drinkable. PaulHegedus (113), Brampton, Ontario, Canada Sep 20, 2008 Bottle, pours amber with a tan head. Aroma of caramel, roasted nuts, spices. The mouthfeel is medium. I taste orange, caramel, spices, with a slightly bitter finish. nqualls (414), Tennessee, USA Sep 16, 2008 Bottle. Poured a clear amber color with a two finger white head.
