COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottle conditioned only. Previously 8.0%.
Some of the oak casks at Samuel Smithís date back more than a century with the individual oak staves being replaced by the Old Brewery coopers over the years. Gradually the casks soak in more & more of the character of the ale fermented in stone Yorkshire squares. Yorkshire Stingo is aged for at least a year, matured in these well-used oak casks in the breweryís underground cellars deriving fruit, raisin, treacle toffee, Christmas pudding and slight oaky flavours, before being further naturally conditioned in bottle.

Great brewery. Not my favorite of all the beers they brew. Aged in oak ale casks matured for over a year.

Bottle at the Maypole, Cambridge. £8.00 but I know it can run upward of £12 in London, and you gotta spend money to make money... Light brown with a rust/orange hue. Iíve poured this badly & given it a fairly big cream-coloured head. Aroma isnít all that forthcoming: raisins/figs and a bit of sour mash whiskey. Sweet/spicy taste, intense and chewy. A fair bit of hop bitterness in the finish. Nice chewy palette with gum-numbing carbonation. Itís good, but not mind-blowingly so, and to be honest with the price and the hype, a little more intensity wouldnít go amiss.

They donít do much wrong at Samuel Smithís. This is yet another great beer from Tadcaster. Rich aroma, full-bodied, somewhat smoky, a very finely-tuned brew. And I just love that artwork.

Pours two fingers of head on a cloudy dark straw body. The aroma is dark grains, oak and a little candy. The taste is earthy, dirt, and dark fruits. Mild sweetness. The texture is medium. Interesting.

Bottle from a deli in Northallerton. Pours amber with a frothy cream head that fades quite quickly. The taste is quite sharp, sour citrus with orange notes especially. Some cough medicine notes along with noticable booze. A little oak in the finish. A interesting beer that wasnít quite what i was expecting.

Aged in oak for a year, gives this awesome brew a hint of tawny port. The result is incredible.
