Greatest beer I have ever tasted. I had a 2009; I have another 2009 and a 2008 I plan on opening to celebrate the birth of my second child.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
0.55 bottle still at 8% ABV. Light brown color with a reddish tinge and a yeasty, granulated suspension. Head is thick, off-white, and has a good retention. Aroma is very English, if I may say so, although one of the best: malts, caramel, delicate molasses, brown sugar, and a touch of dried fruits. Taste is bittersweet - definite caramel and malty sweetness but also licorice, wood, whiskey, alcohol, dust, and damp. Medium to full body, creamy texture, and soft carbonation. Finish is medium long and also bittersweet - better balanced though it leaves a sort of astringency and alcohol. Overall a nice brew, good for the style, but there is certainly a room for improvement.

3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
550 ml bottle. Hazy amber color. Big rocky tan head. Winery malt nose. Slightly tart, fruity malt flavor. Notes of dried fruit, but sour components seem to stand out. Not what I remember from previous tastings. More of a yeasty character than I remember. Label says it was bottled in 2013. Not picking up any oak or sweet malt. I think this was a $10.00 mistake. Need to try again.

A very smooth oak aged beer. Lost of warm flavors that are good for a winter evening.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle @ home. Pours with a dark orange colour, big rocky off-white head. Aroma is heavy malty, with notes of caramel, little hoppy, little yeasty, with notes of basement aromas; quite a strong metallic note there... Taste is medium sweet, medium bitter, slightly sour. Medium body, oily texture, soft carbonation.

At Tommie's birthday party in Pozarevac-Serbia, bottle. Pours filtered amber color, cognac like with a small ivory head leaving lacing and drafts. Nose: under spirit cherries, dry fruit, wet wood. Mouth: liquor notes with a dry end. Dusty feel, tart hint.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Large light brown head, muddy brown cloudy body. Nose has horse blanket, funk, hay, brown sugar, light dried fruit. Medium body, medium sweetness off the bat, some complex caramel flavors with some dried fruits, dates, dried banana. Light sweet finish that still has a refreshing note to it. Just a few hints of funk in the finish. Complex, delicious and balanced.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Drinking one cellared more than usual -- brewed 2011, this is 2014. Dark candy fruit. A little boozy like fruitcake. Some oak but not too much. Prickly carbonation. Pretty red glow. Moderately sweet. English yeast character is pleasant, blending into the booze fruit. Tart and drying finish.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
I believe this is the first English Strong Ale I’ve had that’s been aged. I must say, Samuel Smith has a winner. While this ale doesn’t produce a lot of head, the copper-brown color is lovely. Stingo’s smells are candy-like and fruity. Oak, dark fruit (especially fig), spice, and toffee form the flavors. For a Strong Ale with 9% ABV, Stingo is exceptionally smooth. Despite the rich flavors, the body is damn mellow. This is a dangerously drinkable holiday treat. You won’t realize how quickly you’re draining it until it’s nearly gone.
