[4502-20120609] Bottle. Light urinal puck yeast aroma has a hint of celery. Hazy, light brown orange body with a medium-lasting foamy white head. Grainy orange juice flavour has a splash of celery. Medium body. Not bad, interesting to sample. (6+/3+/7/3/13) 3.2

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
In short: An amateurish golden ale that is fortunately not very tasty
How: From a bottle at Mondial De La Bière 2012
The look: Cloudy burnt orange body topped by a persistent small beige head
In long: Nose has unusual strong notes of white chocolate and some toastiness. Strange intriguing aroma. Taste is a bit of a letdown, body feels a bit empty/airy considering the gravity of the beer, toasted cereals reminiscent of Caesar salad croutons, milky notes, white chocolate, prickly carbonation, some dried bananas, some other stuff. I’m not what they were attempting here but I found this beer lacking direction. Fortunately the beer wasn’t intense at all, so its chaotic nature felt rather inoffensive. On the plus side the alcohol was very well hidden. Ovearll… Fail. An pretty ordinary beer but I prefer a boring over no beer at all, I’ve tried an alcohol free lifestyle but eventually I gave up on it, most boring Sunday morning ever.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
A hazed amber ale with a thin off white head. In aroma, a sweet fruity malt with light off sulfur notes. In mouth, a grainy musty sweet malt with light unfermented character, grassy, a bit off. Bottle at Mondial 2012, June 9 2012.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Birra molto valida.

2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
2012-06-09. Hazy dark orange-amber body, small beige head. 3+ Odd aroma, tangy fruit and grainy malt. Flavour is similar, tangy character, unpleasant grainy character. It tastes a lot like a mediocre Quebec micro that has been sat too long, with tangy malt and a light note of what might be oxidation. Average bodied palate. Either not well made, or not in its best shape, not sure which. On tap at Mondial, 4T, Montreal

Monasta, 7% alc./vol (strong beer)
Double Malt Monasta, amber colour and naturally veiled. This beer is unfiltered and unpasteurized. This beer presents notes of laurel and honey and pairs beautifully with roasted meats and seasoned sheep’s milk cheese.
