With more substance and roast than our Nut Brown, this creamy porter is nitro-poured and has nice hints of coffee and dark chocolate. This ale is smooooooth and so very drinkable!

On tap at Newport Alehouse. Pours a deep chocolate brown with a thin head. Nose is creamy malts and bakers chocolate. Flavors enter with mild roasted malt. The chocolate flavors build slowly through the beer and build to a decent chocolate milk flavor and texture. Creamy mouth. Nice little porter.

On tap. Pours a very dark brown - almost black - with a vague reddish hue and a creamy beige head. Intense chocolate aroma combined with the toasted malts. Quite a solid body, lots of chocolate, roasted malt and a coffee bitterness that comes late and balances the chocolate sweetness quite well. Some malt bitterness in the finish, that also holds some alcohol. 070709

From tap at the brewpub. Pours dark brown to fully black with a small tan head. Aroma is dark roasted malt and mild acidic dark chocolate. Sweet chocolate flavoured, light roasted and vague toffee like. Light acidic and roasted malt flavoured finish. Nice lasting chocolate note into the far finish.

sample @ SDBC wow, hard to put this one down. Pours black, with mocha head. Aroma and taste, chocolate malts, light lactic notes and cocoa. Use of brown chocolate with not much of bitter side to it. Smooth, just a nice combination makes this one an easy drink.

(11/5/08) Draught sample at the brewpub in San Diego. 7%. Very dark brown to black color with pretty creamy brown head. Aroma of bittersweet chocolate, roasted malt, some chocolate cake notes and a bit of coffee. Sweet flavor with dark chocolate, cocoa, and light fruity hints. Medium to full-bodied. Very tasty.

Tap at SDBC. Very dark brown-black beer with a creamy tan nitro head. Aroma is fairly nice. Lots of soft cocoa and chocolate malt. A kiss of coffee but it’s much sweet than the aroma suggests. The sweetness works though and rather than making the beer seem sugary it makes it drink like sweet milk chocolate. Very soft creamy palate with a touch of light toasty bitterness. Pretty damn solid beer, really.

On at at SDBC. Poured a nice, nitro looking pour; dark brown, with a really creamy head that held form. Aroma of cocoa and roasted malt, with maybe the faintest hint of coffee. Flavor was initially fantastic, although it got a little worse throughout. Still it is definitely quality. Cocoa, roasted malt, coffee with some chalkiness near the finish. Full bodied with a nice palate. Very good for the style.

On tap @ the Liars’ Club - Pours a dark brown color with a small, but long lasting, light tan head. Decent lacing. Aroma is roasted malt and light chocolate. Had a very nice mocha chocolate flavor. Very smooth and creamy. This is a very nice beer.
