A dark smooth ale that is rich and satisfying. This beer has hints of caramel and roasted malts, which are accompanied with a combination of Willamette and Cascade hops. The best brown ale you’ll ever try!

Draught Little head left, reddish cola-coloured beer. Nutty, indeed, hazelnut chocolade, and dark green leaves. Cola light? Sweetish and again green leaves. Light, rather watery. Too sweet and too light really.

UPDATED: OCT 21, 2011 Poured from a tap into a pint glass at San Diego Brewing Company in San Diego, Calif. Color was dark brown. Light on the film on the sides of the glass, heavy on the lacing on top of the beer. Smelled with hints of nuts, malts, coffee, caramel and chocolate. Decent taste. Flavors included nuts, caramel and toffee. Fairly smooth beer. High carbonation. Small feel of cream soda on the tongue. Not a bad beer overall. I’d order it again. Nutty would best describe the beer.

Draft. A deep red beer with at thin off-white head. The aroma has notes of malt and caramel. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt and nuts as well as lighter notes of caramel.

On tap at SDBC. Clear light brown pour, almost amber, off-white head. Lightly roasted malt, caramel, kind of sweet, light in the nut department. Just a light brown ale, nothing special.

A: The pour is a dark amber color bordering on brown with very little in terms of head. S: The nose is sweet with a bit of nuttiness, but not quite as much as you might expect. Good caramel notes along with some toffee. T: The flavor seems a bit off, perhaps a touch sour. Otherwise, however, mediocre brown ale flavors at best: bit of caramel, toasted malt, nuts, and toffee. M: The body is medium and there’s a slightly creamy feel on the tongue. D: The sourness in the flavor really threw me off and sort of drug the overall impression of the beer down. I don’t think this would be an amazing brown ale either way, but certainly a bit better.

On tap. Clear reddish brown with an off-white head. Sweetish aroma of burned caramel and nuts. Medium body, sweetish burned caramel, dried fruit and nuts. No real bitternes. Very well crafted. 070709

From tap at the brewpub. Pours dark brown with a small deep amber glare and a small white head. Light fruity and roasted malty flavoured. Light bitterness coming through. Mild roasted base flavoured into the finish.

On tap at the brewpub in San Diego. Pours a clear, dark brown body with a thick, creamy brown head that dissipates slowly and leaves lots of lacing. Faint aroma of fruits, nuts, and caramel. No real roast smell or taste. Flavor is malty and fruity with a nutty ending. Light bodied and somewhat fizzy. Overall, not too good. Disappointed.
