4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
On tap @ San Diego Brewing brewpub. Pours a clear deep amber with lasting tan head. The aroma has a nice load of roasted malts and nuttiness along with a hint of fruity esters. The taste is rich maltiness along with highly roasted malts and a big hazel nut nuttiness. Lots of flavor here, yum. There is a faint malt astringency mixing in nicely to help cut all the roasty malts, sweeter malts and nuttiness. Very good Nut Brown.

Aroma is sweet mat and a little roasty chocolate kind of stuff. Flavor is hazlenutty and chocolate. Flavor is similar to a chocolate milkshake. Relatively weak body.

2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Tap @ brewpub. So dark brown itís almost opaque. Bland nose, does not impart much but the flavors are nicely husky. Slick palate. This was my favorite of the SD Brewing offerings that night.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
A dark brown pour with almost no head. Light roasted malt aroma. Flavor that mirrors the nose. A semi sweet flavor. A bit foamy but solid. Average brown ale with decent malt and very lite hops.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
On tap at SDBC. Clear light brown pour, almost amber, off-white head. Lightly roasted malt, caramel, kind of sweet, light in the nut department. Just a light brown ale, nothing special.

2.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
On tap at the brewpub in San Diego. Pours a clear, dark brown body with a thick, creamy brown head that dissipates slowly and leaves lots of lacing. Faint aroma of fruits, nuts, and caramel. No real roast smell or taste. Flavor is malty and fruity with a nutty ending. Light bodied and somewhat fizzy. Overall, not too good. Disappointed.

3.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
tap at the brewpub - This one has a very mild malt aroma and an easy going caramel malt flavor. Itís medium bodied and smooth, just another straightforward, unremarkable brown ale. Not bad.
