Sledge Jr (2708), Omaha, Nebraska, USA Apr 9, 2006 On tap at the brewpub. The bartender described this as an ESB. Dark, dark amber- more of a reddish brown. Has a faint aroma of fruit. The flavor is WOW! Plums, raisins, figs. The mouthfeel is low alcohol for such a big beer. Yummy in the nutty flavor.Has a roasted medicine-like finish. This brew has some good complexities and must age really well. A shame they don’t bottle it. Lubiere (3182), Ottawa, Ontario, Canada Jan 14, 2006 Deep red amber to brown ale with no head. Sweet malt with vinous notes and light hops. Very sweet malt with light bitterness, short in mouth, and with nutty raisiny notes. Very short in mouth. Not bad. On tap at SFBC, August 2005. jazz88 (2202), San Francisco, California, USA Mar 9, 2003 Tap. Mahogany color with a laced white head. Good malty character with a little chocolate and toast. Smooth and enjoyable.
