| An Imperial/Double IPA brewed by San Juan Brewing Company Friday Harbor, Washington USA

shigadeyo (1340), Southwest Ohio Area, Ohio, USA Sep 13, 2007 Pacific Northwest Vacation 2007
8/26/2007: San Juan Garrison Bay Double IPA is amber-colored and looks cloudy/murky. There isn’t much, if any head. The aroma reveals some alcohol and a faint apricot presence. The flavor is malty with a tropical (Belgian-like) fruitiness. Where are the hops?! I thought this was supposed to be a Double IPA. There is very little hop bitterness or flavor in this beer. The beer feels big with its medium to medium-full body and soft, mellow palate, but it is really lacking in flavor and bitterness. Perhaps this should be presented as a Belgian Ale of some sort instead of trying to masquerade with a "Double IPA" name that can’t be fulfilled...
4 oz draught sample (6.6% Alc By Vol, #1049, OG 1.066, Brewed 7/31/2007) at the Front Street Ale House in Friday Harbor, Washington. Rating #1 for this beer...
