440ml white and gold can from Tesco. Part of a four for £4 deal. 5%. Sweet and easy drinking. Pleasant enough, but nothing to distinguish it.

Can - pours pale golden with a big white head. Aroma of alcohol and roast malts. Taste of malts, slightly toasty, grainy, woody and charcoal. Weak bitterness, very sweet. Medium body, light carbonation.

Bottle from Tesco Windy Nook. Very little head to speak of. Quite a dense syrupy flavour, slightly sweet. Sickly in great volume but a change from bog standard high street selection if you're somewhere with a rubbish choice.

Trying to do my best to rate this in the right place - apologies if I’ve got it wrong. Brought on draught in Coventry restaurant, where the beer range was uninspiring so I thought I’d go for one of the commercial brands I’d not tried. Struggled to detect any taste or aroma from this at all; maybe the slightest bit of malt amongst the carbonated water. OK, I was drinking it with Asian food and it didn’t stand a chance - like pitching your nan against both Klitschko brothers. The only nice thing I can say is that it looked OK - light yellow with a head that persisted until the end of the pint.

Bottle. Appearance- very clear golden, small foamy white head which goes quickly. Aroma- cereal, barley, wheat, malt. Taste- malt, cereal, smooth, a little bit spicy. Medium bodied, finish lingers for a bit. An ok lager.

Why do I persist with these lagers when they all taste a) the same and b) bad? On tap at the Caldecotte Arms, MK. Dark yellow/gold, quite fizzy with an impressive head. Aroma isn’t too bad either: grape and resin alongside the usual funky/boring megalager scents (stale grain, citrus, pee). The taste is bitter/sour, what sweet there is tastes like almost a saccharin oddity. Doesn’t work.

A lager like so many mass produced others. Really nothing special. Watery like the most of them. No own character. Refrehing on a hot day but nothing to really enjoy.
