3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 14/20
330 mL bottle. Dark brown, with a little ruby notes and a small, tan head. The aroma is heavy caramel, pine, peat, and a little black bread. Roasted sweetness up front, with a mellow sour and bitter finish. Medium body, sticky and a little acidic. Overall, this beer has a surprisingly complex nose, but the palate is weak. Not bad, though.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
The roasted malts make of this brew one of the more decent mainstream beers in Asia. Good aroma of roasted chocolate beans and caramel. Dark ruby color, small tan head, no lace. Nice taste of roasted malts, mid sweetness, not hoppy. Abrupt finish with a bit of smokiness.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
11.2 ounce bottle. Pours a dark cola color with a thin beige head. Aroma is roasty with a bit of coffee influence. Fairly sweet. Reminds me of licorice. Lighter on the palate.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Dunkelbraun mit hellbraunem Schaum. Würzmalziges Aroma nach Toast und etwas Karamell. Im Geschmack gar etwas röstig geraten. Kerniges Dunkel, dass überraschend gut ist!

2.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
330 ml bottle as “San Miguel Cerveza Negra” bought at ParkNShop Superstore in Fanling.
Clear deep brownish red colour; One finger head and light beige foam which last for about 1 minute; Small lacing and fizzy carbonation; Quite pungent smell of dark malt and lager malt, with corn syrup, light chocolate, and very light wet cardboard; Quite sweet taste of dark malt, verging on cloying, light metallic, wet cardboard, slight hint of roastiness, non-sweet caramel, faint citrus and very light grass; Light body, watery palate; Mouth feel is a thin, fairly sweet Dunkel surprisingly free of rice and corns for a San Mig, but also devoid of roastiness, nuttiness and toffee so common in dark brews. Caramel come as a afterthought really, and notes of wet cardboard, metal and sugar fill up the void. Really sad… Hoppiness is barely detectable grass nose, faint citrus and grass taste, and close to zero bitterness for an empty finish; Slightly dry after taste, slightly dark and quite sweet to mouth.
Comments: This is definitely a Dunkel, and a mediocre one at best. This is the first San Mig’s beer I consider passable - no adjuncts, foul taste is kept at minimal level – Unfortunately as a Dunkel or dark beer in general, this one has only sweetness to show for, and you feel like you are drinking a very empty Dunkel completely devoid of character. What an irony. Not a drain pour, but definitely not recommended.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Poured a clear dark amber/copper. Caramel and roasted malt aroma. The taste is quite sweet with a roasted nut note. It is the kind of cheap dark lager I have grown accustom to in Latin America and I actually like it. I consider this one a classic.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Random 12oz bottle thanks to Greg for a tick, thanks man! Pours a really dark brown with a light tan head, aroma has quite a bit more than I was expecting, nice touch of roasted malt and caramel sweetness, the flavor has a really sweet front end with almost a touch of fruit in the finish, really sweet overall, not terrible.
