BlaQQ_JaKK99 (5), Philippines does not count Apr 20, 2002 mikeben (335), Naperville, Illinois, USA Feb 15, 2004 Updated: Feb 18, 2004I am a fan of regular San Miguel but this is much better. It smells fragrent with a flowery sweetness. It is a beautiful burgandy color. The taste is mildly sweet with no bitter aftertaste. It is not sickly sweet though. Much more complex than your average lager. Wulfstan (434), California, USA Nov 26, 2007 Updated: Dec 7, 2007This beer shocked me. After this brewery’s decent but very mediocre and slightly odd premium lager and its dreadful light beer, I was skeptical about this but bought it at the same time. It is, however, wonderful. It’s a dark red brown, almost black, with a big tan head that lasts a long time and leaves some lacing. The aroma is hard to pin down, but very pleasant, full, a bit sweet, with toasted grain, hints of chocolate & leaves. The taste is even better. It is very, very nice, smooth, with a nice sweet-bitter balance and also very hard to pin down. It has a lot going on and is constantly intriguing, yet pleasant, with different taste and palate elements, making it quite complex. It is somewhat light in body, but with a full, very lively, engaging palate that lasts and intriuges, with a light tartness on the tongue and a great balance of smooth, refreshing, light elements and full taste and interest. BillKismet (1388), Seattle, Washington, USA Apr 8, 2002 Gorgeous dark amber hued lager that is perfectly topped. Pleasant candied malt aroma that gives way to a beautiful roasted malt flavor--one that is not deep, but sweetly and uniquely flavorful. Awesome! Sure this beer is not very complex, but rather it is simple, supreme tasting, and to the point. An incredibly quaffable lager that may be one of the five best dark lagers in existence. austinpowers (2827), New York, New York, USA Jul 25, 2002 I read the comments on this beer and everyone says ’Wow! It’s much better than I expeceted. Quite good’. I couldn’t agree more. I tasted it against several other dark lagers and this came in second only to Kisz Dark, and only by a slight margin. This isn’t a complex beer, but it’s to the point and has a pleasant chocolate(?) malt flavor that’s very nice and flavorful. The only things holding it back are that the aroma isn’t all that great (couldn’t have been skunked, the bottle was brown), and there’s a hint of sourness on the palate. This may be the Philippines’ best beer.
