A robust traditional English ale with a fine roasty-toasty flavor, handcrafted from select roasted barleys that impart its red-brown hue.

Bottle... Slightly hazey amber pour; thin tan head. Nothing overpowering in the aroma, mostly roasted malts and some piney/herbal hop notes. Flavor is quite good...robust and malty, but not sweet. Toasted malt aftertaste with nice hop bitterness for balance. Crisp and refreshing while still full-bodied. Doesnít really scream "English Style" to me, but as an "Amber Ale", itís good.

Aroma is sweet caramel and biscuit, pours a clear amber/brown with a dusting of light brown head. This has some nut and roast notes, but is predominantly sweet caramel. The mouthfeel is slightly sticky, with a sweet finish. Iíd prefer a bit more roast and dryness, but itís not bad.

Beer of month club. Pours a rich copper with thin white head - very attractive. Nose is a little odd - a lot going on - some malt, lemon zest, and a V-8 like smell, too. Taste is malt, caramel, and some bitterness on the finish. Pretty good. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Deep amber beer with a medium foamy off white head. Subtle nose of toasted bread, light caramel, and candied nuts. Flavor is a bit more pronounced with a sweet toffee base overlaid with some scorched nuts and toast finishing with a slightly acrid bitterness. Pretty good.

Lots of caramel malt and sweet flavors. Not overly complicated and none of the flavors are over the top. Very nice and balanced. An enjoyable beer.

12oz bottle, from Brennanís in Wisconsin. Purchased during my stay for GTMW. Clear red, amber, kind of light brown color. Pours with a thin fizzing finger of khaki head, that slowly fizzes away to a thin amount, leaves a few loose dots of lace. Up front in the aroma, thereís some chocolate, nuttiness, and dark fruit. Mostly sweet dark fruity malts to the flavor. Some toastiness comes out later. The name kind of implies that this is an ESB, but thereís very little hop character to it. Moderate sweet taste, very light bitter. Medium body. Kind of smooth, lightly soft lighter carbonation, with a slick finish. Alright amber ale overall. Decent to enjoy with my sandwich.
