Bottle... Slightly hazey amber pour; thin tan head. Nothing overpowering in the aroma, mostly roasted malts and some piney/herbal hop notes. Flavor is quite good...robust and malty, but not sweet. Toasted malt aftertaste with nice hop bitterness for balance. Crisp and refreshing while still full-bodied. Doesnít really scream "English Style" to me, but as an "Amber Ale", itís good.

12oz bottle, from Brennanís in Wisconsin. Purchased during my stay for GTMW. Clear red, amber, kind of light brown color. Pours with a thin fizzing finger of khaki head, that slowly fizzes away to a thin amount, leaves a few loose dots of lace. Up front in the aroma, thereís some chocolate, nuttiness, and dark fruit. Mostly sweet dark fruity malts to the flavor. Some toastiness comes out later. The name kind of implies that this is an ESB, but thereís very little hop character to it. Moderate sweet taste, very light bitter. Medium body. Kind of smooth, lightly soft lighter carbonation, with a slick finish. Alright amber ale overall. Decent to enjoy with my sandwich.

Bottle - Nice clear brown pour with a lovely creamy light tan head. Nose is lightly toasted malt, butter, and a light herbal hopping. Taste has much of the butteryness, with lightly toasted malt, a sugary sweetness, and an off sourness. Light herbal hopping. Medium-thin and overcarbonated. Not good.

Twelve ounce bottle from Beer Of The (Every Other) Month Club. Large off white head, medium red/amber hue, light to moderate and somewhat refined malty nose, medium bittersweet flavor (with the balance tilting slightly to the bitter) that like a cross between a bitter and an amber. Interesting, sessionable brew.

16oz glass pours a red-copper with a medium head and nice lacing. Sweet English malt little hops, slightly bitter.

Bottle from Woodmanís Foods in Onalaska, WI. Somewhat hazy brown pour with a smaller white head. Iím not digging the aroma/odor of this thing - stale grass or hay or something. Taste isnít so bad - roasted malts, mild caramel sweetness.

Very generic, light yeast, toasty malts, easy drinking but over unmemorable.

From a Beer of the Month Club selection given to me by a member. Poured from the 12 oz bottle a hazy amber with an off-white head. Nose of caramel malts and grassy hops. Medium body. Flavor shows some dark ripe fruit, and some of the floral hops. Finish has a touch of chocolate. Reasonably good drinking.

Sweet, caramel aroma, a little bock-malty , nice. Clear, dark woody color; OK label. Nice toast, grassy, moderately sweet, a twiggy bitterness. Medium body, slippery mouthfeel, average carbo. I liked the finish and maltiness. Enjoyed this. BOTM club selection, thanks Uncle Doug.
