Iím a sucker for smoke and roasted malt flavors, so this was right up my alley. Didnít notice that alcohol. Poured a decent dark brown with a tan head. Some light chocolate notes in the nose and taste. Long finish, rather played on the tongue. A bit of coffee, bitter smell as well. Nice.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Aroma of roasted grain and chocolate. For being a double chocolate stout it is very easy to drink. Sort of creamy. Had out of a bottle in the dells.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Thin light tan head which dissipates rather quickly. Roasted grains and oratmeal in the aroma with some dark fruit and a hint of bittersweet chocolate. Color is a very dark brown. Medium bodied with a lively mouthfeel. Dark roasted grains, more of the oats for body, a light shadow and bitterness of dark roasted coffee and a lingering sweetness at the end. Light alcohol presence and warming. Not sure I would classify this as an imperial stout but still pretty darn good.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 14/20
355ml bottle Black pour which has a fizzy but oddly longer lasting tan head. Immediate aroma is chocolate and lots of it. Theres also some port, dark berries, leather, and spice. Flavor is rich and chocolatey, lots of dark fruits, some spice. It has a really thin body though which I think will deter most people form enjoying it ot its fullest.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
12oz bottle, purchased from Brennanís in Madison during my stay for GTMW. Black color. Thin tan head. Some loose lace. Dark fruity, raisin taste. After that, some dark chocolate, oatmeal taste. Moderate sweet taste, light bitter. If itís really 9%, it hides alcohol impressively well. No hint of that, drinks like 7% or less. Medium plus body. Smooth, kind of soft, lighter carbonation. Slick texture. An alright double chocolate oatmeal stout. A little sweet, but best thing about this is how well this hides the alcohol. Didnít expect 9% at all, and doesnít taste a bit like it either.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
12oz bottle (courtesy of Headbanger) poured into a Shaker at 41į. Color is black with light carbonation and a thin tight tan head. Aroma is rich and sweet with a hint of smoke. It has a bolder medium body with a sharp slightly rich mouth feel. Flavor jumps in sweet with toffee, coffee and just a hint of dark fruit then a very light bitterness shows with mild smoke. In the after taste the fruit seems to stand out a little more with the smoke lingering. Overall I didnít get any chocolate out of this, but the smoke is nicely done, its well balanced and the alcohol can not be detected.

12oz bottle 10/2/13 (Binnyís Naperville)-40į in English Pint-Pours black with ruby tints. Aroma of roasted malt, smoke, and bacon. Taste of sweetness, smoke, and burnt malts. This medium bodied brew should almost be categorized as a smoke beer. You donít get much sweetness.

30th January 2012
Opaque black beer, tidy tan head. Slightly soft palate, semi dry. Smooth dry powdery chocolate. slightly dark chocolate character. Lactose that is a little sour. Good fruit underneath - fig and raisin. Semi dry finish. Lots of flavour here but itís somehow disjointed.
