3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
The aroma is malt - roasty, chocolate, coffee. Pours a dark brown almost black with light brown head fully diminishing and no lacing. The taste is light bitter. The body is medium, the texture creamy, the carbonation lively and the finish bitter. Finally rating this - Not bad but havenít bought more as Iím not truly impressed.

2.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
Shared bottle, pint glass. Blackish, dark brown. Dry bitter cocoa taste. Lacks smoothness of a milk or sweet stout. Not sure what they were going for but they missed.

3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
12 oz bottle purchased in MI in August 2013 served in a Belgian snifter.
A: The beer pours very dark mahogany brown, looking near black in the glass; a deep ruby color is visible at the edges of the glass under bright light. The thin tan-colored head soon died down to a partial top coat and left only a bit of lacing.
Aroma: Rather sweet but attractive aroma of caramel and dark roasted malts. The aromas has some complexity as well, with suggestions of stewed raisins and other dark fruits and a hint of dark chocolate.
Flavor: Sweet, with hints of chocolate up front, and plenty of dark fruit mid-taste. Dark chocolate reappears in the finish.
M: near medium bodied: about as expected. No dryness; light but adeqquate carbonation.
O: No apparent flaws, but rather sweet and slightly unbalanced.

2.4 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
Tap: very dark, nearly black with a nice, foamy, light-tan colored foam on tap that settles nice & slow. Aroma is a little vapid; notes & reminders of the usually stout-y things... roasted barley, bitter cocoa, a touch of coffee. But none of them really stands out, so it seems somewhat generic. Taste follows in the same vein - very light & thin bodied with light chocolate & roasted malt flavor. Nothing distinguishable above the other, just a fairly generic stout all around. Not bad, but quite boring.

2.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 6/20
On tap at Red Robin. Tasted very cheap and artificial. You can tell they didnt know what they were doing when they brewed this. Heavy on the chocolate in a bad way. Just overall weak.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
surprised by the low score, this one was actually pretty tasty. aroma is slightly musty, with a bit of smoke and a lot of malt. flavor is brighter than expected, cocoa with a bit of leather and diner coffee. maybe just a bit of soy sauce in the background. finish is barely oily with a hint of metallic. honestly, i like it.

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottled 12/5/12. Poured 5/22/13.
Appearance: Aggressive pour yielded a three finger head that had an audible carbonation that died down pretty quickly to nothingness. Pitch black with tan bubbles and no lacing.
Smell: As the head was bubbling away, I got some really nice aromas that included a lot of caramel and cinnamon. As soon as the head was gone, mostly really dark malt aromas, and nothing too interesting.
Taste: As many others have said, disappointing. A roasted malt character is byfar the most noticeable taste, and one of the only ones. I donít really pick up any sort of coffee flavors, and no significant chocolate flavor, which is a bummer. Additionally, this drink more like a normal stout than a sweet stout, as itís really not sweet, doesnít have that silky mouthfeel Iíve come to expect from a milk/sweet stout (itís somewhere in the middle with a somewhat prickly carbonation), and itís just average.
For the style, this beer is all wrong. For the name of the beer itself, this beer is all wrong. If this were to have a different name (without "CHOCOLATE" in the title) and be classified as a normal stout, thatíd be fine. Maybe Iím just splitting hairs, but oh well.
Sanders Chocolate Stout isnít at all a bad beer, but itís quite disappointing, given the name. Iím scoring the beer based on what I think of it, rather than the classified style or its name.

3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20
12oz bottle from ABC on Betton. Near black pour with a tan ring. Aroma is leathery and chocolate malts. Tastes are roasty, grain, coffee, chocolate, acidic, burnt, caramel. Dries out in the finish. Ok.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 14/20
Cola colored brew with a thin, tan head. Aromas of dark chocolate and something earthy. Tastes of bittersweet dark chocolate, earthy notes, and some dark coffee. Sweeter than it is bitter. Bittersweet chocolate flavor in finish. A bit chalky/dry, yet thin. Light bodied for a stout, but it works. I enjoyed this beer.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
12 ounce bottle pours a thin black color with aromas of chocolate, malt, ligt vanilla, and some earthy hops. Flavors are the same but watered down, not as chocolaty as expected and thin on the palate for a stout.
