UPDATED: MAY 27, 2009 A very potent brew, with a very sweet nose, that hits powerfully on the first sip. Some definite, candi sugar and caramel notes

UPDATED: MAY 22, 2008 Pours a deep ruby/brown. Aroma is fruits, sweet malts and slight alcohol. Full bodied and properly carbonated. Flavor was of sweet molasses, s touch of roasted malts, hops, and a bit of dark fruits. Finished with some bitterness and a some alcohol warmth. Very tasty.

Tap at the Watering Hole. Rich red colour, no head. Aroma is booze, wood, steeped fruit, slight funk, alcohol. Taste is not bad. Lots of rich fruit, plums, cherry, bit of orange. Bitterness leaves a prickle on the tongue. Not the sweetness I would expect. Nice sharpness to it. Body is quite full on. Thick but not oily. Maybe might be nicer after a bit if ageing, but nice enough as it is.

Donít know if I would call this amazing, but it certainly was remarkable. According to Chad, many Japanese micros are rather nondescript and that absolutely does not apply to this. Exceptionlly dry, possibly due to use of honey? If not, there is at least a flavor hinting at it, tannic quality and what seemed like a woodiness to it. Very interesting and enjoyable and wish I had been a bastard and taken more than my fair share. Thanks Chad.

The nightcap from Ushitona with TimE. Clear ruby/orange color with a tiny ring of off-white as a head. Sweet cotton candy, light pine hops. A sticky sweet malty taste up front as it fades through the middle leaving a lingering grapefruit peel bitter follow. Another tasty Ji-biru!

3-24-08 bottle thanks to aceofhearts!!
Caramel in color with a nice frothy head. Sweet honey and alcohol aroma. Flavor is very unique and is nice and hoppy and bitter. Earthy and grassy which causes this drying sensation in the mouthfeel. Thanks for sharing Chad!!

Draft to plastic cup at Hop Revolution 2 Tokyo Cherry a little grapefruit, a hint of chocolate Deep amber, almost red with a thin bubbly head Cherry, but not sweet, lots of bitterness, Iím not sold on this...maybe it was too cold, but the aromatics on this were too subtle

300 ml bottle. Pours darker amber, almost copper. Sall head that is gone fast. Aroma is quite fruity, some hops and some spikily sharp alcohol, making my nose twist. Taste is softer at first, more fruity with some dried plums. Then some serious bitterness comes to the forefront. Alcohol content is much better hidden though than was suggested by the aroma. Good beer, I wonder what the taste would be like after it ages for a couple of more years.

Deep orange to brown with nonexistant head. Lovely smell of sweet fruits, strawberry, plum. Sweet caramel malt. Sweet start to the taste, very strong in grassy hops. Bold flavored. A heck of a bitter hop finish. Palate is a bit oily and has very little carbon. A smooth, biting barley wine. Nice.
