Tap @ Toronado 8/11/06. A clear amber color with a laced off-white head. MIld grassy aroma with sweet smooth malty flavors. Finishs clean with a nice bitter bite and a hint of fruit. Smooth but with a "hook."

Copper body with minimal head. Lots of tropical fruit aroma, lemon, orange and grapefruit. Hoppiness on the palate, dry, some nice spice with decent malt body. Well made.

At Brew pub (cool Place) Between pale and amber some haze. Big hoppy IPA light malt. Godd for style Light malt and pine cone hop. Typical example of a good west coast IPA

Draught at the brewpub. Clear copper colour. Rich hop aroma with plenty of sweaty lychees. Medium sweet with lovely soft mouthfeel and some bready malt flavour. The malt might be completely overshadowed by the massive hops, but it’s still sufficient to carry the beer. Rounds off with California style bitterness. A delicious IPA!

I had a go at this during the GABF after it won the Gold Medal. My impressions of it haven’t really changed with this latest sample, from a growler acquired by Per at the brewpub the day before. Bright bronze colour. Big explosive orangey, grapefruity aroma. Moderate bitterness, but also quite a bit of chewy sweetness for a regular IPA. Bright and flavourful. It loses points for the overt chewiness but is otherwise a solid, distinctive IPA.

On draught at RFD’s (Lupulin Slam 2006): Medium amber, very slightly hazy (probably just from condensation on the glass, hard to tell) with a creamy, thick, lasting white head. The aroma is a kick-you-in-the-teeth citrus, grapefruit, and very fresh & grassy hops. It’s not at all unpleasant or too biting for me. Taste is bitter fresh hops, earth, very bitter floral grapefruit, grapefruit rind, and just a tiny hint of sweet malt. Very crisp with finely carbonated bubbles and a light-medium body. Fantastic.
