COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Built in 1881 to showcase the electrification of the west, San Jose’s Electric Light Tower stood for over 30 years as a shinning star above the Santa Clara Valley. Our Electric Tower IPA reimagines this icon as an intensely West Coast Style IPA. A firm malt base builds support for the abundance of hops, allowing hints of pine, citrus and tropical fruit to shine through and light up your palate!

Contract brewed at Hermitage Brewing Co. until 2015.

Bomber from Hayduke. This beer poured a clear honey gold and had a nice fluffy off white head that left a good bit of lacing. The aroma is west coast hops with floral, citrus, and caramel. The first sip is hop centric with citrus and tropical fruit out front. The second sip brought more grapefruit. That had its run for a bit and then the tropical went back out front. I love a good psychotic beer! This beer is a classic west coast IPA and it is an excellent example of it. There are no faults to be found. Very drinkable and flavorful. This beer is a fastball down the middle on an 3 and 0 count.

On draft at San Pedro square brewpub with Scott and Heady. Pours clearish golden color with smaller head. Medium carbonation. Tasting notes were orange, pine, light malt and some other citrus fruits. Good brew to sip on while watching some crunchy tuneage.

Leighton (17211) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - FEB 12, 2014
Bottle shared at The Bruery. Pours clear gold with a white foam head. The nose has dry pine, orange rind. Medium sweet with dirty pine bitterness, more citrus rind, moderately sugary toasty pale malts. Medium bodied with average carbonation. Lightly resinous to finish with further pine notes, dried citrus rind. OK stuff overall.

Pourer from 22oz bottle from blackwells. Dark orange, almost amber color. Sticky white head. Fruity floral aroma. Taste is very bitter. Malty citrus pine and spicy notes. Not too bad but was expecting to like it more

651mL thanks to Leighton. Clear orange pour with good foam. Onion, garlic style hop nose with vanilla in background. Taste is juicier cantaloupe, sugar, intensely bitter. Moves to onion for the finish. Not bad though.

UPDATED: NOV 5, 2013 Live rate. 22oz bottle from Cask N’ Flask, San Jose, CA. Pops open with an enticing gust of lychee moving into grapefruit, melon, papaya, blackcurrant, aniseed...even a little wisp of garlic- good fresh hops unencumbered by malt. Brilliant bronze with a loose off white foam. The hop freshness continues on the palate with punishing bitterness; dried flowers, slightly less expressive tropical fruit flavours, peppery spice and pine. Oily nut linger and crumbs of biscuit off the malt- no Crystal malt overdose here. Bitter, bitter hops dominate; fresh-picked and pollen-like on the burp. Better than average WCIPA.
