COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Santa Cruz Ale Works I.P.A. Another excellent example of how brewers out West can manipulate hops. Originally designed by the British, this style was made with more hops and alcohol in order to survive the long travelling ships from Great Britain to India, at the time a new English Colony. This lightly colored ale is very aggressively hopped from start to finish. From the first sip the hop bitterness and aroma are overwhelming then rounds off nicely with a citrusy finish. Including dry-hopping we use over 30 lbs. per batch ƒ lbs. per bbl) Approx 6.5% Alc.

Clear golden with medium white head. Hoppy aroma with pine and citric notes. Hoppy flavour with grapefruit piney notes. Solid bitter and dry finish.

Bottle. Very pale golden beer, thick white head that is quite sticky and persistent. Aroma is softly hoppy with a fairly strong resinousness. Sort of earthy and a bit papery. These hops smell like they used to be fruity, but the beer may be past prime. It’s got a grassy resinousness as well. Lean but the hops are quite indistinct and lacking in both flavour and aroma. Meh...

Average to mediocre IPA. Pours a particularly boring yellow, considering the glowing colors of some IPAs. Aroma is rather good with a delicate blend of floral and citric notes. The aroma raised my hopes, but the flavor just did not reach the same heights. The hop flavor lacks richness. The beer is blandly bitter when it should be rich in hop flavors. It is somewhat grassy. Nearly astringent feel that would be fine but for a lack of rich hop flavors. Good effort but needs work.

Bomber from Country Club Liquors Nose of mandarin oranges cloudy gold with a big white glass-lacing head flavor nice and bitter with some citrusy notes and a long lasting bitter finish! Way underrated West Coast style IPA IMHO!

From a 22 oz bottle purchased locally. Aroma is a little tangerine citrus hops. A clear gold with a big puffy white head. Flavor is aggressively hoppy at the beginning with citrus and pine followed by some maltiness, and then bittering in the finish. Fairly dry, not much sweetness. Lighter body for a beer this strength. A little out of balance. A little harshly bitter with not enough malt background.

Bomber poured a cloudy gold with fishys and a small lingering off white head. Aromas of straw, fruittiness, earthiness and light pine. Palate was medium bodied and smooth with a dry finish. Flavors of straw, spice, light carmel and a hint of earthiness with a smooth dry lingering bitter finish.

A hazy golden color with a white foam top grabs your eyes and invites you to take in the earthy hay grass aroma into your nose. The slight bitter flavor fills in the medium body. Yet, the bit too lively fizz leaves you with a tickle bright ending. Santa Cruz Ale Works delivers an everyday drinking I.P.A. at the right price. For a 6.5er, you can pick up this rock-solid performer for $1 less than other I.P.A.s

This hazy golden ale poured with a decent off-white head and a floral aroma. The flavor is creamy caramel malt with some serious hopping. However, the balance is off, resulting in too much bitterness and not enough body.

Bomber from BevMo. Pours hazy gold with a frothy white head. Aromas of floral hop over pale malt sweetness. Near medium body with finely creamy carbonation. It’s hoppy - think I got a fresh one. It’s bitter. It’s floral and a bit citrus. Finish is clean and hoppy. And bitter. Maybe BevMo should keep them in the cooler.

Aroma is somewhat oxidized stale earthy hops. Some odd sweetness as well. Poured a nice shade of gold with a great big head. Tastes plasticy sweet initially followed by some odd yeasty esters. Earthy leafy hops are there in the finish, but are just off. Carbonation is pretty big. The bottle I had was really just plain unpleasant.
