Commercial Description:
Chicken Killer Barley Wine is the revolutionary beer that will someday define America's unique Barley Wine style. It is brewed with twice the ingredients of the Santa Fe Brewing Company's other beers, and only half the usual amount of liquid is extracted from these ingredients. This makes one strong beer. At over ten percent alcohol, Chicken Killer is actually as strong as wine, but this is not to say that it is difficult to drink. On the contrary; be careful with this one. The flavors of the beer are at first as overwhelming as the intense Santa Fe sun. But in the same way our sun gives us the unrivaled brilliant colors of Santa Fe, the potency of Chicken Killer gives us the remarkable spectrum of flavors that can be found in no other beer, in no other city. If you did not have the opportunity to try last year's vintage, come try this year's! Malts: 2-row pale, 30-37 l. Carastan, 135-165 l. Crystal Hops: Chinook, Hallertau, Crystal

In the bomber bottle from Beertopia. Dark amber to light brown in color with a serious yellow-beige head. Sugary sweet with toffe and caramel, but under hopped. This could be thicker. Good, but not up to my BW standards. Sampled at the 2008 Crescent Moon Extreme Beerfest as well. Seems a bit thin for a BW.

Bottle. A deep amber beer with a beige head. The aroma and taste is of caramel, fruits, hops and alcohol. Medium to full body with a sweet finish.

Copper with a nice head. The aroma is hoppy with a lot of spruce (gran). The flavor is also very hoppy but well-balanced.

Pours a hazy orange with a thin orange head. The nose is bitter and hoppy, sweet, citrusy, grapefruit rind, caramel, warming alcohol. The flavor is similar, citrusy hops, malty, warm and waxy, could have been more upfront. Thick, warm, and waxy mouthfeel. Finishes warm.

(Bottle 65 cl) Hazy amber golden with a creamy, off-white head. Sweetish caramel aroma. Medium body with sweetish caramel notes. Has a vague oxidized and a little tired feel to it. Some alcohol presence in the finish but not much bitterness. 260708
