2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Dark amber with a quilt of light eggy whites. Smells of malts, tea, alcohol, cinnamon and some hops. Flavor is sweet, malts, alcohol, bubble gum, really sweet. Medium to heavy with moderate carb and a dry finish. Overall, this beer is okay, but just too sweet.

1.5 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 5/20
Bomber bottle poured a clear rosy amber hue w/ a small beige head. Faint sweet aroma. Initial flavor is a bold sweet w/ a mild bitter finish. Tastes are powdered sugar, rubber hose, light prune. Full bodied, syrupy mouthfeel, soft carbonation, and a warm finish. Iím curious to try other years, based on some of these ratings. I enjoy Barley Wines, but this bottle is going down the drain.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bomber. Poured dark amber with a medium-sized light tan head. Aroma and flavor were very malty with lots of caramel, toffee, and some raisins, cherries, and dates. Quite sweet, low bitterness. Pretty boozy.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Shared bomber poured to snifters displaying a rosy, coppery color, with a light layer of off white head foam that quickly diminished to a thin ring & film, and light streaks & spots of lacing. The nose was sweetness, cherry, vanilla, and some alcohol presence. The taste possessed a moderate hop bitterness, with soft carbonation, medium body, fair alcohol, but malt character that seemed a little low, especially for a barleywine. The finish yielded some dry astringency. A little disappointed, but the average flavor notes may have been due to the frosty condition of the bottle upon delivery.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle. Moderate to heavy cereal, roasted and caramel for the malt, moderate cooked orange for the hops, light dough for the yeast, with date, wood, brown sugar and a faint hint of vinegar. Head is small, frothy, light beige with good lacing and good legs and is mostly diminishing. Color is muddy medium brown with some medium sized chunks. Flavor starts moderately to heavily sweet and lightly acidic, then finishes moderately bittersweet and lightly acidic. Palate is medium to full, creamy with a soft carbonation. Though this Barley Wine leans toward the sweet side itís a nice mix of flavors in good balance.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Location: 22 oz bottle from Central Market, 11/20/13
Aroma: The nose is heavy malty, quite sweet, and a little boozy, with lots of caramel and toffee
Appearance: It pours a murky dark orange color with a lasting beige head and plus lacing
Flavor: The flavor is very sweet, caramel, toffee, and fruit, with some boozy notes, and hints of hop
Palate: The body is medium-plus, heavy sticky, with soft carbonation, and boozy heat
The name is the standout component of this beer (by far), and the main reason I purchased it. As a beer, it is a solid one, but it is also overly sweet and a little too boozy to be a great beer. I certainly didnít dislike it, but, at the same time, it isnít great. Iíll bump it up 1 point on the overall purely for the awesome name (12 to 13), but otherwise, this is where Iíd stick it.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Hazy dark reddish brown body with a small whiteish head of tiny bubbles. Slightly sweet candy sugar aroma along with some cherry, berry fruits. Mildly bitter flavor at the beginning but then some of the sweetness comes through followed by a good dose of alcohol. Solid barley wine.
