0.9 AROMA 1/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 1/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 2/20
Harsh initial alcohol smell at first pour, but dissipates. Tastes exactly like the alcohol smell. Made a tingling sensation in my mouth. I've never poured a beer out but I had to with this. Very disappointed.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
22oz bottle. Pours opaque, dark honey colored. Aroma of brown sugar, pine, raisin. Flavor of brown sugar, pine, molasses, dried cherry, wine, bread. I like that it is a more hop forward barley wine. Very easy drinking.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle, post CBC.A: Deep brown color with a firm creme color head.N: Toffee, bubblegum, peppercorn, good amount of hops lend pine and earth, some caramel, toast, and a bit of butter.T: High sweetness and bitterness battling for the tongue. Does get a bit astringent however. M: Medium body, soft carbonation, alcohol is restrained. O: A balanced barleywine with some interesting flavors and an easy drinking profile. Not an extreme barleywine however.

3.7 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bomber, cellared for a little over a year. Caramel malt aroma with notes of dark fruit and toffee. Pours caramel brown with one finger of tan head with good retention and lacing. Starts out well with sweet dark fruit and caramel flavors. Finishes smooth with a little bit off booze as well as a bit of a metallic flavor at the end. Nice barleywine, but the metallic presence in the finish was not good.

4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20
Santa Fe Chicken Killer Barley Wine has a medium-to-thick cream-colored head, a murky, highly bubbly, rust-orange appearance, with low-level lacing left on the glass. The aroma is of sweet & sour sauce, sourness, light fruits, sharp hop resin, and lots of barley malts. Taste is of those same elements, with noticeable bitterness to offset the malt sweetness. Very bready. Mouthfeel is heavy and chewy, and Santa Fe Chicken Killer finishes between wet & dry. RJT

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Best attribute of this beer is the fact that the ABV is hidden, goes down smoothly. Murky dark amber body with initial high fluffy head. Malty aroma with a hint of mustiness. Taste is more sweet malt, some toffee, but abrupt finish. Not picking up the metallic notes of previous reviewers. Good, but not great.

Amber pour with an off-white head. Lacing hangs. Smells of clean malt and roared barley. Caramel flavor with subtle toasted barely. Pallet is smooth and clean with a slight alcohol note.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
low man on the totem pole in a BW tasting. smaller in body than the others, with a hint of metallic aftersmell (is that a word?) and ever so slightly less complexity. a nice beer, but as far as BWs go, below average for my money. decent sweet malt/fruit balance with a hint of hop bitterness."

Tap@Brewery: Pours reddish copper. Vinous, caramel, christmas cake spices on the nose and the palate. Overall, a very nice barley wine that integrates its ABV very well.
