3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
22oz. bottle served in a snifter. Poured a hazy, reddish gold with a finger of off white head. Caramelized sugar and hops in the aroma. Medium to full bodied. More caramelized sugar, fair amount of hop bitterness to balance sweetness. Easy drinking for 10% ABV.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
UPDATED: JUL 3, 2014 Pours a honey-orange amber color with a large khaki head. Well-blended notes of toffee, orange, and lemon. Warmth on the palate with a mild sticky quality. Flavors approximate the aromas with red apple appearing. Alcohol in spades, which bitters the flavor quite a bit.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Thin head, above average taste. Color isn't as dark as I'd have thought it would be. Honestly, this is a very thin Barleywine. Taste is above average.

1.9 AROMA 1/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
Wasnít sure about this one, but it was cheap and Iím on a barleywine kick. This was the first beer Iíve had from Santa Fe. Pours a very interesting 2-tone color. Dark brown on top, ruby red/amber on bottom. Thin off-white head, moderate lacing. Aroma was not so good. Sour, hoppy but not in a clean way. Kind of smelled like wet bread mixed with a sulphur aroma that was like a burnt match head. Taste was surprisingly weak. I will say that it hides the 10% ABV very well, but the initial flavor is hand soap. After that, it gets a little better with some caramel and malt sweetness. No aftertaste at all; I found that strange. Palate was a little oily, but otherwise non-existent. Donít try this one. It might be good for getting drunk, but you have to hold your nose while drinking it. I should have known better.

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Poured from a bomber into a tulip glass. pours a murky medium amber with a huge khaki head which slowly fades, leaving good lacing. Nose is caramel and malt. Taste is sweet caramel with a mild hop finish which leaves a malty taste in the mouth after swallowing. Hides the ABV fairly well. A tad sweet, but typical for the style. Not bad at all.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pour is a dark brown with a huge tan head. Aroma is a nice caramel malt with a decent hoppy backbone and some earthy tannins. Flavor is a decent malt with a bit of dark fruit and some sweetness to hide the alcohol. The problem is its a bit thin around the edges. The hops from the aroma are gone which just leaves this a hint sweet malt bomb with a little plastic taste toward the end. Iíve had better.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle - Light hoppy dark caramel. Slight barrel and vinous notes. Clear copper with a rich beige head. Lots of caramel and orange with a rich body and only a bit of booze. This is a great beginner Barley Wine. Subtle and mellow with nothing to extreme. Of course this is also the issue with this beer, a bit light and boring. More of an english style, so the description is a bit misleading.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
UPDATED: MAR 29, 2014 The appearance is cloudy copper color with a large off-white head that fades quickly, and the aroma blends caramel and toasty malts, booze, and resin hops. The taste is mildly sweet, slightly umami, a touch bitter, and a touch boozy, and the palate fuses an oily texture, sweet yet slightly astringent finish, medium body, and a flat carbonation.

3.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Dark copper with garnet tinge. Off white head with little lacing. Aroma of herbal tea and some sweet bread. Taste is herbal tea with some caramel and a bit of bread. Some cherry flavor in background with some spicy flavor and some alcohol. Finished with some bitterness and alcohol. Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. I've had better barley wines. Wouldn't but again but it was ok.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
2013 bottle to a tulip glass. Pours a dark copper color with a small off-white head. Taste is caramel with some cherry. Has a bitterness that first hits as piney and then gives way to a big herbal taste. Alcohol comes through strong. Has a slight sweetness in the middle that ends with a puckering quality, like tea. Has a medium, puckering mouthfeel. Not an traditional barley wine.

Bomber. Reddish amber color. Really light malt aroma. Taste is very sweet and could use more balance. Decent body.
