COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
As its name suggests, this Pilsner does not like to be categorized. Inquiring whether it is a German, Czech, Bavarian, American, or any other style pilsner will result in an impatient sigh and the explanation that the whole philosophy behind this pilsner is that it does not fall into any categories. True, it is brewed with traditional ingredients (soft water, pilsner malt, saaz hops, and German yeast), but it is the way that these ingredients interact, and the characteristics of the yeast, that cause this particular pilsner to defiantly stand alone. The assertively hopped Freestyle pils exudes the flavor and the aroma of the classic Saaz hop (a tribute to “the original” pilsner), while maintaining enough body to balance but not overpower this hop’s pleasant, spicy tone. An unhurried lagering process so frequently overlooked by American craft brewers is strictly adhered to in the production of Freestyle, which makes this beer by far the most light, clean, and quenching beer in the Santa Fe Brewing Company’s line up. Malts: Pilsner, Vienna Hops: Saaz

Sampled on 10/3/2012. This pilsner pours a light yellow gold color from a 12oz can. Medium to large sized white foamy head. The aroma is cereal, fruity, sweet and spicy. A medium to light bodied pilsner. The malts are fruity, cereal and sweet. The hops are herbal and spicy. Nice soft carbonation. A very full mouthfeel for a pilsner. Bright, crisp and clean, very refreshing. A very nice summer beer. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.

It's great, pours yellow, appears like a lager, tastes somewhere between a blond and a pilsner, doesn't have that harshness that you get with a lot of pilsners, not that different than mama's lil yella from OB ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Courtesy of hellbilly. Can pours clear pale gold with white head. The aroma offers up floral hops, corn kernels, spicy hops and earthy hops. The taste is similar with floral hops and spicy hops as well as grainy malts and sugar sweet malts. Hmm. Good summer brew here.

Can - pour is clear, effervescent gold, with a thick, soapy lace - straightforward aroma of lightly sweet pils malt and spicy, grassy saaz hops, with just a touch of toasted grains from the hint of Vienna malt - simple and inviting - soft carbonation in the mouth - leans toward the German end of the pils category - moderately sweet, clean pils malt up front - gets a bit grassy through the middle, gaining a slight richness from the Vienna malt - the bite of the saaz arrives near the end and lasts through the finish - herbal and lightly spicy - a clean and mostly well executed pils - a tad sweet for my taste, but this may earn a spot in the BBQ lineup this summer.

12oz can poured into a pint glass. Bright clear yellow with a little lace on the sides of the glass. Smells earthy with a twinge of alcohol. Tastes like a pilsener, not much mineral flavor and not a very strong flavor. Very easy to drink and I’d probably have one on a hot day sitting on the porch. 12oz can served in a Sam Adams perfect pint A - Pours a light pale gold with a airy white head that recedes pretty quick. A few patches of lacing left behind. S - Clean pilsner malt, bright grassy noble hops, lager yeast. T - Follows the nose with lightly sweet pilsner malt, grassy hops, tangy apple and fruit, hints of chalky lager yeast, grassy hops follow through the the crisp clean finish. M - Light to medium body, smooth carbonation, crisp and clean finish. This one went down quick. A crisp and refreshing pilsner that would be a great seesion candidate. Serving type: can 02-18-2013

can from Mile High. This is pretty solid Pilsner. Aroma has notes of cereal and light vegetation. The hops are apparent in a spicy, earthy way. Mouthfeel is pretty solid. Good solid hop bite with a direct delivery of grains and cracker in the flavor. There is a hint of corn in the flavor, but otherwise this is pretty straightforward grain and hops with notes of crackers, dough, and woody hops. Nicely balanced.

(can 6/2/11). Clear gold color. Small white head. Moderate pils malt aroma, with light citrus. Flavor of the same. Avg duration. Dry finish. Thin texture. Moderate carbonation. Spare lacing.
