12 oz can, poured into a snifter at approximately 50 degrees F.
Appearance: Pours a slightly clear dark brown, rather light for a coffee stout, and forms a massively thick light tan head that hangs around for a while. It leaves lacing on the glass while it slowly dissipates down to a cap. Eventually, the head vanishes completely, and the beer looks almost exactly like a cup of light roast coffee sans any form of cream.
Smell: Deep roast and rich coffee scents mingle above a sweetness that doesn’t seem to be entirely malt-derived. There’s a hint of something akin to chicory lurking in there as well - I’d expect that from a New Orleans-based brewery before a Santa Fe brewery, but I’ll take it.
Taste: The aroma does not disappoint here, as the beer delivers exactly what was promised by the nose. The flavor profile opens with roasted malt and light coffee in abundance, mingled with a slight touch of bitter baking chocolate. Notes of chicory echo around the edges as the brew moves along the palate, and the coffee bitterness fades as a sugary sort of sweetness begins to manifest. It never quite overtakes the coffee bitter, but balances it out by the finish. I can’t find any alcohol taste at all, so well done there, Santa Fe!
Mouthfeel: Aside from temperature, this beer actually feels like drinking black coffee.
Overall: Not a bad go at a coffee stout, with the emphasis on coffee rather than stout. I would drink this again.

Awesome coffee and chocolate in this one. Not overpowering amounts of coffee, just right. The sweet chocolate comes through perfectly with the coffee to make a nice sweet balanced beer. Super smooth. Exactly what you want in a stout. Awesome stuff!

Can to snifter. Black pour, tall off white head, medium lasting. Robust, smooth, bold, bitter finish, sweet coffee aroma and flavor. A little bit boozy, definitely wiry. A big bodied stout. Score: A+

A little more carbonation than I was expecting. Had a decent chocolate malt flavor. The coffee flavor was pretty weak. While drinking the Stout, it seemed a little watery for my taste. I might drink this again.

A decent java stout. A little thin in the mouth compared to others. Will review again later.

A really weak java stout. Very slight hints of chocolate and coffee. This stout taste very watered down.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Dark brown, almost black pour with small tan head. Aroma of coffee, roasted malts, hint of chocolate, and leather. Taste of strong bitter coffee, roasted malts and creamy chocolate. Full bodied, medium carbonation, bitter long finish. Not all that complex but a nice solid imperial stout, coffee forward.

Tasty lil beer. Pours very dark brown almost black with a dark khaki head. Aroma of coffee, roast and chocolate. Flavors are the same with a sweet fudge dark fruit component. Finish lingers nicely, sticky on the lips. Slightly thin for the style.

Can thanks to Wittales. Pours nearly black with short-lived tan head. Aroma: coffee and chocolate, mostly. Smells like a big, well-balanced stout. Taste: Light chocolatey sweetness with pleasantly balanced roast coffee, somewhat bitter finish. Medium+ body, average carbonation, oily texture. Overall: This was totally off my radar, but it’s delicious.
