COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This is the kind of beer that gives the word "stout" a reputation. Extra generous quantities of barley malt, followed by vigorous fermentation leaves this "imperial" heavy weight with 8% alcohol A.B.V. and a body as full as chocolate bread pudding. A complimentary and complex array of bitter notes comes form potent American hops, earthy British hops, black-roasted malts and, of course, coffee. Santa Fe Brewing Company uses only top-quality ingredients like organically grown East Timor coffee beans blended with New Guinea coffee beans, locally roasted by O’hori’s Coffee House. Its heavenly flavor and aroma can’t be beat or imitated.

The beer is the color of my morning ritual cup of coffee. Dark brown, nearing black. The beige head is thick and leaves sticky residue in its wake. The aroma offers a potent dose of coffee right off the bat. Certainly aimed at the coffee aficionado. Some roast and chocolate notes, which is to be expected. Coffee takes center stage, however. Dark roast leads the way, then transitions to a chocolate bread flavor lingering in the finish. Very good. Rich and creamy feel with none of the unpleasant bitterness sometimes found in a bold coffee beer. A solid beer. I would definitely have this again.

12 oz can. Pours a clear, dark brown with mohagony hues. Aroma of coffee, peat, dried fruit, dark chocolate. Flavor is coffee, pine, very dark chocolate, molasses, prune. Has a bitter, dry finish.

caramel, coffee, roasty, nuts, leaves, licorice, raisin, black, sparkling, minimal head, tan foam, medium sweetness, medium bitterness, medium body, sticky, thin feel, lively, astringent, long finish, Not too hot, hides it’s 8% ABV well but could use a fuller body and less carbonation.

Poured from can a near black with a thick light brown head. Smells of malt, and of course coffee. Taste follows smell with roasted malt and coffee.

12oz can. Very dark brown with a huge light mocha head that eventually settles down to a nice thin layer. Roasted and semi-sweet malt with some celery, some coffee grinds, lactose, light smokey un-sweet molasses. Semi sweet (reminds me of tamarind), moderate body but mild mouthfeel, some coffee, becomes a bit dry. Not sure how I feel about this one - mildness on the palate doesn’t seem to blend well with rest of the flavours or what I was hoping for but overall it holds some promise.

Excellent coffee flavor that accentuates a robust stout. By far the best coffee beer that I’ve had.

Great coffee and burnt toast aromas with a beautiful head. Fulfills the promise in the middle and ends on a slightly sweet note. Alcohol is nicely masked. One fine imperial stout.

12oz can poured into snifter. Dark and creamy, just what the doctor ordered. Oh did I mention the coffee? All over the place, unmistakable and super delicious.

Dark brown in color, clear with a thin head. Thick dark roasty malt with a big alcohol finish. This was a nice big beer.

Bottle shared by brew3crew. Pours brown with a small beige head. The aroma had roasted malts, mild coffee notes, ash, and a hint of brown sugar. The flavor had roasted malts, strong coffee, dark chocolate with some earthy hop bitterness to the finish. Decent stuff, very drinkable.
