I had this at the Flying Saucer. Pours reddish-brown with a tan head. Taste Carmel, biscuit, nutty. I thought this was ok. I could drink this again.

Gross. Nope nope nope. Bad flavor or some sort of combination that just doesn’t do any Irish ale justice in this can. Avoid.

Can. Pours a clear deep reddish amber with a near white head that dissipates slowly to the edges. Aroma has a large bread note with a bit of toffee and backing and a touch of biscuit. Flavor is more balanced with toffee, bread and nuttiness as well as just as hint of a grass note.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Can to pint. Attractive pour. Dark copper with a thin off-white head. Significant lacing. Very aromatic--largely biscuit. Sharp carbonation. Taste is more biscuit with a touch of roasted nuts. My only problem with this beer is the lack of finish. Flavors taper off abruptly in a way reminiscent watery/old soda. Cool can. Overall pretty good.

Pint on tap. Clean-looking copper clear beer with light lacing and a small head. Smells of quality malt, plenty of aroma. Nice clean taste as well, with biscuit, caramel, and slight toast--light hoppiness. The aftertaste is the low point for me, with a bit of a lack of finish. Beginning and middle are full enough.

This Irish Red has a dark red color and is mostly clear-bodied, with a dark caramelized nose and palatable sweetness. The mouth is sweet as well and very well-balanced, with a malty pleasance. It’s easy and enjoyable. I like it.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
On tap. Served a deep amber color with a thick head and ample lacing. Aroma of malt, bit of citrus and caramel sweetness and grain in the background. Taste is malty with some caramel sweetness, bit of citrus and grain. Nice bitterness and a malty finish. Medium body, smooth and creamy with a nice touch of character. Enjoyable beer that is refreshing and a leg up on most ales of this style.

3.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20
UPDATED: FEB 18, 2014 The aroma blends caramel and bread malts with dough yeast, and the appearance fuses a clear reddish brown color with a large white head. The taste has a mild sourness, slight umami, and a touch of sweetness, and the palate fuses a thick and slick texture, medium body, soft carbonation, and a long malty finish.

Santa Fe Irish Red Ale has a thick, somewhat soapy, cream-colored head, a mostly clear (with a slight haze), rust-red appearance, lots of bubble streams, and a good amount of lacing left on the glass. The aroma is not too strong, but one can detect sweet, bready, crusty malt, and a slight citrus note. Taste is of all of those elements, with a noticeable tannin quality. Bitterness is low. The mouthfeel is light to medium and a bit soft, and Santa Fe Irish Red Ale finishes refreshing, easy-going, and delicious. I recommend checking this one out! RJT
