3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
The pour is a light amber color with minimal head formation. Starts off with lots of bourbon and vanilla notes. Thereís a hint of oxidation in there too. Quite a nice fruit quality to this: raisin, plum, and grape. Plenty of caramel and toffee of course, too. The flavor has a nice touch of bourbon and vanilla long with a bit of oak. Not quite as much fruit, but still good. Caramel, toffee, and a bit of brown sugar are also present. Solid all around barleywine.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Big BIG thanks to Doodler for reading my mind and send me this NM barleywine. I owe you man! The gold waxed 22oz bomber pours opaque copper with gold hues and supporting a short lived tan head of foam. The aroma offers up a tart sort of red wine note and then it starts to get into some oak, vanilla and bourbon. The taste is similar where Iím getting bourbon sliding into a barrel tartness and a bit of red wine. Wow, there is no beer left here but just vanilla, bourbon and a slight infection. Sure glad I didnít try and age this one.

2.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
Head is initially small, mostly diminishing.
Body is medium amber.
Aroma is moderately malty (caramel), lightly to moderately hoppy (apricot), with strong notes of raw wood and bourbon, other notes of kumquat and celery.
Flavor is moderately to heavily sweet, moderately acidic, lightly bitter.
Finish is lightly to moderately sweet, moderately acidic, moderately bitter, unclean.
Medium to full body, syrupy texture, lively carbonation, moderately to heavily alcoholic.
Ugh, what a disappointment...I like Chicken Killer quite a bit, but this is a raw, abrasive mess of a beer. Sour notes and very aggressive bourbon-and-oak combination completely destroys all the nuances the original beer possesses. Choked down about 4 gulps before giving up entirely.
