Anything but a typical American Pale, Santa Fe Pale Ale is as full bodied as its most robust English counterparts, while asserting its American origin with a healthy nose resplendent with Cascade and Willamette hops. It finishes with a well-balanced combination of the subtle, almost Pilsner-like maltiness accentuated by the German yeast used to brew this Santa Fe classic, and a hop bite sufficient to leave a lingering smile on the face of any fan of American Pale Ales.

Picked up a 6 pack on a road trip through New Mexico. This a very pleasant. It is on the lighter side of pale ales, but I find that to be very refreshing sometimes when done well. And this one is. Very drinkable.

Bottle from Whole Foods-Indian School Plaza. Medium golden body with creamy pour, both body and head. Aroma and taste reflect the grain bill, which is fairly subdued for the American craft palate. Texture prevails over the subtle flavors, making for a middle of the road pale ale.

112oz Flasche. Goldgelbes Bier mit weissem Schaum. Es riecht nach Citrus und Tannenharz. Kräftiger Geschmack nach Hopfen.

Pours golden to honey color. Aroma malt citrus bisket. Not very stong aroma. Flavor is caramel, malty, pine, earthy more than anything. Overall kinda bland. Nothing really sets this stand out.

A little hazy Amberish gold with a thin tight off white head. Caramalty and leafy hoppy nose quite balanced and even on the nose. Flavor is the same. Calm and balanced overall, caramalty, leafy hoppy, a touch lemony, and a touch grassy. Crisp and dryish and a little too balanced. Could have used a more crisp and less earthy hop tone.

Light amber beer with a thin off white head that disappears quickly. Surprisingly sweet nose of caramel, honey, and perfumed soap. Flavor is bitter initially with some musky floral hops giving way to a burst of sweetness reminiscent of butterscotch and toffee. The individual flavors are ok, but the combination is a bit off putting. Overall, not great.
