Pours a thin head, with a bit of lacing, over a clear black brown (SRM 35) body.......nose is roasted malts including, coffee, chocolate, a bit of dried fruit, including cherry and raisin.....taste is initially rich sweet, roasted malts with coffee and chocolate, ending in mild bitterness....mouth feel is thick, rich heavy and sticky, carbonation low but adds creaminess. This is rich, thick, heavy and balanced sweetness. A nicely done Imperial. JCB (1751), Durham, North Carolina, USA

Big lively pour with an active carbonation that blooms improbably from this thick oily body. Huge chocolate notes in the nose, and I’m talking straight Hershey bar rather than just chocolate malts. Lively palate, slight chalk on the finish (which I dig). Slight char and roast coffee in the taste, with a dash of fruit for complexity. But even though this is a fairly straightforward brew, it succeeds in what it wants to do. Really enjoyable. Rustyham (560), miami, Florida, USA

Nice lacing. Aroma is dark esters and a bit of chocolate and alcohol. Flavor is full of dark esters, chocolate, molasses, light vanilla, and sweetened roasted malt. A very pleasant surprise. Finish is fairly smooth and a touch dry. I think a year in the bottle has done this beer wonders. Very nice. Rciesla (3610), Exit 15W, New Jersey, USA
