Commercial Description:
A trademark beer of the Santa Fe Brewing Company’s master brewer, Ty Levis, the State Pen Porter has every reason to be one of his favorites. It is flavorful, swimming with notes of nuts and chocolate; it is drinkable, so drinkable that it is almost as if pint after pint were drinking itself; and it packs a punch, so much so that its drinkability rapidly gives way to a euphoric intoxication that only a true Porter drinker can understand. Malts: 2-row pale, 30-37 l. Crystal, 70-80 l. Crystal, Chocolate Hops: Cluster, Cascade, Willamette

A nice deep black with thin tan head. Nice aroma of roasted malt and slight licorice. Flavor is bitter chocolate and roasted malt. Nice lingering malt bitterness. A little thin on the palate but overall is real nice.

There’s something funky down here, what it is ain’t exactly clear. Fruity, dark roast malt aroma. Nicely dark with crimson edges. Too much berry-like acidic fruitiness. Roasted finish.

From the Papago Cooler. Very malty - malty to the point of too much. Lots of roasty malt flavors with very little hop profile to provide even the slightest balance. Slight metallic taste that I hope dissipates after some decanting.

Bottled. Poured dark brown with a light brown head. Aroma is coffee, roasted notes, and soil with a medium strength. Flavor is light soil with a hint of sweet chocolate, and a slight roast. Body is medium/thin.
