3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
This brew is a dark brown color with ruby highlights and a medium beige head that recedes steadily to an outer ring. Short strings of lace on the glass. Roasted malt and chocolate in the nose. Medium body with flavors of sweet malt, chocolate and coffee. The finish is sweet with a roasty malt aftertaste. Decent overall.

Bottle from mydude
Pours basically black with a medium sized & well retained head.
The aroma is roasty & a touch chocolaty but not without some hop fruitiness. Inviting, pleasant, & very quintessential "American" porter.
The flavor is similarly enjoyable in that roasty/coffee/hoppy kind of way. Nicely bitter all around... a touch chocolaty but really nicely hoppy, both fruity & a touch piney in that aspect.
Quite enjoyable, thanks Sam.

Pours dark brown with a crimson hue and a small tan head. The aroma has chocolate, coffee, cocoa, mellow roast and cream. It has a smooth medium body with soft carbonation. The taste has very dark chocolate, mild earthy hops, roasty malt, vanilla and light char The finish has some spicy / earthy hops. Pretty nice.

3.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
UPDATED: MAR 29, 2014 The color is a clear and very dark brown with a large tan head, and the aroma is roasted, chocolate, and caramel malts with vanilla. The taste is mildly sour, slightly umami, and a touch sweet, and the palate fuses a thin texture, medium body, soft carbonation, and a finish that is reminiscent of melted chocolate ice cream.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pour is a black with a large white head. Aroma is a nice chocolate fudgy malt. Flavor is again a decent chocolate malt with a decent char black malt. After the swallow that nice burnt malt is left on the tongue. This was a tasty porter and way better than this brewers pale ale I just had.

Draft. Nice deep almost black color. Small head. Taste didn’t have the depth of the really good porters but was still roasty and malty. A little thin in the body.

poured intense, nearly impenetrable chocolate brown with dissipating tan foam. Hoppy nose with roasted chocolate malts coming up as it warms. The hops play the front, with a smooth palate and nice bitter roasted finish. Maybe a bit thin but pretty tasty

2/03/2014: Santa Fe State Pen Porter... Dark and opaque; semi-sweet chocolate and caramelized malt in the aroma; flavor is a wonderful blend of caramelized malt with just a touch of roast and char, chocolate (cocoa and semi-sweet), molasses, and a twist of licorice; moderate sweetness and enough soft, grassy, floral hops to balance the malt; luxurious texture and medium-full body; this is an excellent classic porter; DELICIOUS! 12 fl. oz. bottle (6.4% ABV) from Brian. Thank you! Rating #222 for this beer.

Pours dark mahogany with a tan head. Smells a bit of chocolate and hints of roast. Taste is hints of chocolate, coffee, and roast. Medium-bodied with smooth texture and mild mouth-carbonation, Santa Fe State Pen Porter finishes with a mild semi sweetness.
